I purchased this printer with high expectations. After all, it's an HP. I've had positive experiences with HP in the past. I expected that same level of quality when I purchased this printer. Unfortunately, I couldn't have been more disappointed. First, this printer produces low-quality photographs--pathetic in fact. I expect more from HP. Also, this printer couldn't print a single envelope without damaging the envelope or making a printing mistake (alignment, ink, etc). Similarly, the included printer software was largely worthless. Also printer was incompatible with Windows Vista. I wasted too much time downloading and installing a driver.

Furthermore, I constantly had to cancel and resubmit documents because the printer constantly gave me the "error" message. This is totally unacceptable. Furthermore, the printer is slow as molasses when connected via an ethernet cable. I understand that printing via a wireless network is slower than printing via USB, but enough already. I expect more from HP printers. This printer was a huge disappointment. I returned the printer rather than continue to deal with these problems.

There are better printers out there for under $200. You can certainly do better. Do yourself a favor and avoid this printer like the plague.

after buying this printer, I wish I would have read the reviews from the retailers. After 4 hrs with hp tech (India) so hard to understand, it still doesn't work. The retailer is willing to replace it but after reading the reviews I think I will use store credit to buy another brand. I would not recommend this printer to anyone. I have owned more HP printers over the years than I can count, what happened to the HP that use to work out of the box? It reminds me of what happened to Craftsman and B&D tools. Yep! I read the reviews and still bought it. It IS slow to get started printing and does makes a lot of groaning sounds, but does a good job when it gets going. It does need to hold more paper. It is a pretty good buy for the price.

I have had a few HP printers in the past with good results although the ink has been expensive. When looking for a new printer, I was really wanting a network capable printer to avoid having to do printer sharing which requires leaving one PC on all the time on my network. This printer has separate ink wells which I liked on my previous Canon printer.

The printer has been awful from the beginning. The drivers are extremely heavy, taking about 20 minutes to install. The drivers prevented my Mac from going into sleep mode, and caused the fans to spool up to max periodically. Doing any kind of scan is difficult. Power saving mode doesn't start for a long time.

But the biggest complaint is that I constantly have problems with the most basic thing: printing. I have to send prints repeatedly. Or, I often get the dreaded 0x.... error, which requires a convoluted procedure to clear that online support provided - from India.

I'm considering junking this printer which I've only had for 3 months and getting a basic non-networked printer.

So much for HP quality.

This printer/scanner is extremely slow!  The driver is terrible and I wish Id bought something else.  When you finally get a print through the quality is pretty good, but there are very few options to customize your print job.  I use canon products at work and have found them to be more intuiting and dependable..  A bit more expensive but worth the price.Oh well, next time Ill know better

I purchased this printer to replace an HP that we had had for years and the fact that this was an all in one was great.....Not...I have had this printer for 8-12 months and I'm ready to through it out the window. I use it mainly for personal printing and I have more problems with it than I care to mention. Takes a long time to "come up", if I hit the on button before my computer is completely up the printer gives me problems. The printer constantly is going offline and copying itself. It constantly tells me that I'm out of paper when there is more than enough paper in the tray.  It takes a long time to start up and a longer time to shut off. I think today may be it's last day at this house.....recycle, recycle, recycle...

Cons: Gives false out-of-paper message. Makes user go through motions of adding paper. 

The Photosmart 6280 can make fine printouts. The 2-sided printer feature (duplex printing) is a convenient paper saver. It works well as a copier with adjustable features. 
However, this printer gives out-of-paper messages often when the paper is loaded properly. I  open the tray to reload and find there is sufficient paper there. Even constantly holding a finger on the OK button does not prevent the phony message. Sometimes it says to load the paper in the main tray face down. How ridiculous a statement when referring to plain, yet still blank paper which, of course, is identical on both sides and thus "face" means absolutely nothing. Numerous times, I have tried communicating this defect with the support department. This irritating feature lowers the rating considerably.
