Pros: Great place to kick back, Kilauea Volcano, Friendly people.
Cons: Too laid back, lack of good shopping, lack of fine hotels, RAIN, RAIN, RAIN.

Pros: Waterfalls, National Historic Site B&B, great food, atmosphere, Farmer's Market
Cons: Couldn't stay longer!
Hilo is an amazing place. If you are looking for shopping from upscale retailers and man made fake hotels this is not the place for you. If you are looking for gorgeous scenery, waterfalls, fresh farmers markets and natural beauty then this is the place ...

The Hamakua Coast north of Hilo is the most beautiful place I have seen

Cons: may rain
The Hamakua Coast Road that runs from Hilo to Waimea on the east side of the island is spectacular. You can see waterfalls and valleys from the highway. There are numerous "look out" places along the highway to stop and take pictures.
