My husband is a Contractor and uses Hitachi Brand Framing Nailers exclusively. On the occasion that I have worked with him, I have used the Hitachi Framing Nailers myself and found them easy to use.

Cons: handle tape is substandard

I have used a wide variety of framing nailers over 15 years, and this is my favorite. Differences among the brands have become more subtle over the years, but the Hitachi still stands out, so much so that most serious framers I know swear by this tool...

Cons: No single shot trigger included, and no depth adjustment.

I am a do-it-yourselfer, been one for about 30 years, and I've tackled everything from hand-crafting jewelry boxes, to building sheds, additions to my house and even a Gazebo. I recently built a 14' x 18' storage room in my backyard, and decided to finally buy a framing nailer. I read and read reviews and came to the conclusion that the Hitachi was the one most recommended. I am happy with my choice except for 2 things. This gun comes with a quick trigger mechanism, and it is easy to shoot 2 or 3 nails at once (dangerous also). You can order the single shot trigger kit from Hitachi, but it costs over $70.00 (ouch!!!). Some of their competitors include different triggers for free! Another thing that Hitachi needs to do is include a depth mechanism with this gun.

Overall, this gun has power to spare, and although I cant compare this gun to others because of my lack of experience with other guns, I like this gun mainly because of its power and ease of use. It would be nice for them to include the single shot mechanism in their box though. $70.00 is outrageous!
