Pros: full of features, perfect picture, still picture option, computer compatible, excellent sound. Cons: short battery life-but the rest of the camera makes up for this.
It has been a while since I have written because of the newborn twins, and I am sorry for that because with my writing I try to give you the best and most accurate facts available from my use, whether good or bad.
The JVC GR-DVL720 Digital Cybercam...
Pros: Very affordable, quality video w/ built-in digital stills and tons of FX... Cons: You'll need a spare long-life battery with this impressive 3.5" LCD!
This was my first Digital Camcorder purchase. I previously owned a 1984 Hitachi shoulder mount S-VHS video camera and decided that it was too old and too heavy.
My wife and I decided to buy the JVC GR-DVL720 to record family home videos. We...
Pros: Great quality digital video plus excellent still pics. Cons: Original Batter could last longer.
We shopped extensively for a digital video camera. We tried them all out at the stores, and decided on purchasing a JVC. The $799 Best Buy price was easily beaten by ibuydigital.com (we paid $567).
This camera is very easy to shoot digital video...
Pros: Lots of features, including oversized LCD viewfinder and digital camera functionality Cons: Eats too much power; can be an ergonomic nightmare; no A/V in
I picked this camera out without giving much thought to its ergonomics, and that was probably a bad move. It's a pretty good unit otherwise -- excellent quality viewfinder, a substantial library of special effects, perfect compatibility with iMovie (my...
Pros: Lightweight, 3.5 Display, Excellent Resolution, USB/Firewire Connectivity, 700x Digital Zoom, Good Audio, Built-In Light Cons: Battery life could be longer.
I examined most of the other competitors (Sony, Panasonic, Canon, Sharp) in this price range (under $600) and I found this to be the best deal.
This camera uses the MiniDV format. I like this better than the Digital8 format. The tapes are...
JVC Puts Out A Quality Product by kevinbailey ,Jan 16 '06
Pros: Compact and easy to use. Cons: Short battery life.
Apart from a few "ease-of-use" issues--which well could have been remedied by a simple reading of the user's manual, I have thoroughly enjoyed using this camera. It interacts well with my computer software, and--once mastered--has some interesting and useful functions that allow the user to be creative in making their home movies. Because of its versatility, it's also a useful tool for an aspiring amateur filmmaker such as myself. Light and compact, it can venture into tight spaces with ease.
The main concern I have is with the battery life. It seemed that the battery lasted an even shorter time than 45 minutes. This can make filming long outdoor stretches a bit tricky, and in some cases, impossible.
Overall, this camera packs a powerful punch for its price. I would recommend it highly, especially over the higher cost brands, which essentially do no more than the less expensive JVC brand camera.
Pros: long distance and closeup focus, allows you to see exactly whats going on your recording. Cons: battery voltage, doesn't keep a very long charge
This is an absolute must if you plan on going out of town for a trip or going on vacation. this little number seems as if it could do just the same, if not more than the more expensive brands. the only difference is the price. now tell me, who would want to spend more for a camcorder that has not been tested as much as one that is half of the price? you see, the longer people test them, the longer they are guaranteed to last.i would definitely recommend this camcorder to anyone.
Pros: Good camera when it worked. Cons: Failed after 18 months.
I have the GR-DVL720 version of this camera. Like CATSAV below, this camera stopped working after a year and a half. Would not record, if it did "Clean heads" message appeared, EO4 error. JVC is no help since is is just out of warranty. Because this problem is so prevalent in all of the cameras of this class, there is a class action lawsuit being filed against JVC. Very easy camera to use. Picture quality is excellent as well as the sound. Built in video light a bonus in darker areas. Has reasonable quality still picture ability. Very good value for the money.
Nice camcorder - good size,... by weenie_dt3000 ,Jun 08 '02
Nice camcorder - good size, weight and LCD viewing screen. Difficult at times to use and or change settings - included software to connect and edit to PC seemed worthless.
