Pros: Responsive touch, clarity of tone, a very expressive instrument Cons: Needs frequent tuning (but I've moved frequently)
When Billy Joel and Elton John went on tour together, they carried along two 8-foot Grand Pianos.
Billy Joel played the Steinway, an appropriate choice for his more lyrical songs, such as Piano Man. A classicist at heart, Joel has...

Pros: Beautiful tone and action, durable over time. Cons: None
My love for the Kawai Baby Grand pianos began in 1984. I used to spend a great deal of time visiting a local bar where my favorite pianist at the time, Rob Mullins, used to perform nightly. Rob was new to the music scene then, and you could sit right up...

Pros: good workmanship. Beautiful finish. Cons: a little expensive, but so is caviar!
I began playing piano at age eight and have ever since, both professionally and for pleasure. I love this piano, and recommend it highly for the serious musician or the foolish one with more money than sense. It keeps true tone all the way to top and...

Not a great instrument
by omne24 ,Sep 02 '06
Pros: They are inexpensive Cons: They are an inferior instrument in every way.
The only pianos that Kawai makes that are worth purchasing are the RX series. Their GE series is so poor that every few years they change the model numbers to make it seem as if they are different instruments. Overall their tonal quality is poor, their scale design is inferior. Their action is sluggish and unresponsive. They are made in Indonesia and are comparable to most of the Chinese pianos on the market today. For further information on these instruments refer to Larry Fine and The Piano book

very reliable
by benso0o0onxd ,Sep 08 '07
Pros: nice sound, nice touch, excellent stability Cons: sound could be slightly stronger.
My church has the K. Kawai GM10K. I think these two pianos are related somehow (successor or a model in a different country). The sound rings through the dining hall of another church that we currently use. I really like the echo it makes. It is very expressive and the touch is excellent for dynamics and ornaments are played out easily. Touch is very responsive. I enjoy playing it at lunch when everyone is eating. An excellent piano, and it only ups my confidence in them.

A Grand Baby Grand
by dmcsinger ,Mar 13 '07
Pros: Beautiful tone, durability, sleek look Cons: None
We purchased our Kawai Baby Grand several years ago. Loved it then and I love it now.
This beautiful little piano has an awesome tone and a very responsive touch on the keys.
We have moved our Kawai twice and never found a problem with the tuning. We generally have it tuned twice a year, but in some cases it has gone beyond the six month period and really needed very little work done on it.
We have never had a problem with this piano - it is durable and has kindly put up with two little boys creating their own compositions for a few years - sometimes with more force than necessary - but it never complained!
Visually speaking, the Kawai Baby Grand is a beautiful, sleek, classy piano. As already mentioned, it is very durable in every sense, including the finish.
