My Favorite WWII Documentary Hands Down by rharmon_10 ,Jul 23 '08
Pros: Very touching and informative. Several interviews with vets and families. Cons: Some graphic images which is expected in a war documentary. Very appropriately done.
I first learned about Ken Burns' "The War" when I happened to see the first episode appearing on PBS. I was immediately drawn to the story of life shortly before the war and everything leading up to the attack on Pearl Harbor. The film covers for United States towns and how their residents and soldiers experienced the war. Included are several interviews with both veterens and their families and friends.
There are 7 two hour episodes. For the most part each one covers a different year in the war. Both the Pacific front and eventually the European front are covered in great detail. This was a very touching and informative WWII documentary. I strongly recommend it to anyone.
