A great LG idea

by cypherer , Feb 17 '07
Pros: Brews a great cup of coffee fairly quickly and microwave is user friendly.
Cons: Cannot use microwave and brew coffee at the same time.
I recently purchased this microwave/coffee maker combo and so far I am well pleased. The microwave works well and the cooking space has not been compromised to make room for the coffee maker. All buttons are at the top of the door which make them more ...

Terrible Customer Support - Poor Design

by candj327 , Mar 19 '08
Pros: saves space, great idea
Cons: Horrible design execution, NO customer support/gives runaround, expensive replacement parts, leaks
I have enjoyed the convenience of the space saving design of this microwave for the time we have had it. We have the black unit instead of the stainless steal. However, the coffee combo part of the unit has been defective from the start. To start ...

Poor design
by medocad ,Feb 07 '07
Pros: Microwave works fine
Cons: Coffee pot has a built in flaw and has not been corrected by LG.
In an attempt to remove one appliance from my counter top, I purchased the LG combo with coffee maker. The glass coffee pot only lasted about ten days before it shattered in my hands while holding it. I contacted LG customer service and they agreed to send a replacement for free. It has been ten weeks and no replacement has arrived.

I will be returning this unit to the retail store and they can fight it out with LG.

Buyer beware
by ckomora ,Aug 15 '06
Pros: Convenience, space-saver
Cons: defective carafe, high cost of replacement, lack of adequate customer service by LG
Although the picture shown here and elsewhere has a stainless-steel coffee carafe, the model actually comes with a glass carafe. The carafe has a defect whereby it cracks easily while cleaning due to the pressure from a screw that attaches a steel ring around the bottom. A replacement glass carafe costs $57.00 (blatant overcharging for a glass carafe compared to other models), and you can only buy one through LG. They do not even have stainless steel replacement pots available.
Because we were still under warranty, LG offered a "one-time complimentary replacement carafe", which took us 10 weeks and many phone calls to receive, and then that pot also cracked from the same defect.
We really enjoyed this microwave for the first couple months until the carafe cracked, but because of the high cost of the replacement carafe and the fact that it cracks so easily, the unit is pretty much useless as a coffee pot.

Expensive Replacement
by robertoplant ,Dec 30 '07
Pros: Worked Well
Cons: Expensive Replacement
The microwave was great until the carafe broke. Now it costs $57 to replace. I am very upset that it is only 6 months old. Due to the odd shape of the carafe, LG has monopolized the replacement pot and are charging an outrageous replacement cost. It seems like a great idea because of space saving but has become more of a space waster as now I bought a whole new coffee pot with 12 cups for only $20.00. How can a whole new coffee maker cost less than a replacement carafe?

Life may be good, but this microwave is not!!
by steve01 ,Nov 19 '07
Pros: Looks pretty.
Cons: Very short lifespan, no backup from LG.
This microwave lasted one year, five months before the magnatron (main source of power) gave out. LG replaces this part, but the consumer is responsible for all service and labor costs. Despite the fact that this was clearly a defective microwave, LG "customer service" stated that "if they made an exception for me they would have to make an exception for everyone." I wonder how many others there have been? I am very disappointed and will not buy any more LG appliances and will not recommend this brand.
