I admit I used questionable judgment when I made the decision to purchase a printer that cost less than the replacement ink cartridges - but the Lexmark Z35 performed even worse than expected. Was it better than the previous Lexmark I'd owned...slightly. But the Z35 was still about as reliable as 1980 Pontiac Phoenix I drove in high school; which is to say that some days it worked, other days it just sat there motionless while I hurled obscenties at it.

To be fair, I am by no-means a high volume printer, but it seemed as though this thing was always having a paper feed malfunction or it was somehow out of ink...and I found neither issue amusing. Now granted, during the course of the 2 years I owned it a few jobs printed out effortlessly, but alas when I think back on the Z-35 I just drop-kicked into the dumpster I am reminded of the phrase "you get what you pay for". I will never buy another Lexmark, either high-end or low-end, but regardless of brand I will save myself the frustration and spend a bit more to get the performance a home-user should expect

Cheap printer, pretty good quality print, seems rugged enough. But HOLY CATS is ink expensive!!!!!! and it runs out really quickly. I spend as much for a new black ink cartridge as I did for the printer with two cartridges. Hmm . . .

I got this printer for free from Dell when I bought my laptop. My feeling... I got what I paid for.
I also own a HP Photosmart P1115. Much faster! Much better quality! No comparison.

Given that the bulk of the cost of these prnters is the cost of the ink. I blow easily over $200/yr on ink. The HP ink appears to come out a little cheaper because the cartridges are bigger.

I'd buy the HP Photosmart over this any day!

Ive been using this printer for more than a month and i can say that it exceeds my expectations. The output is very good , photos come out very sharp and clear and the best part of this that i am using non original ink cartridges!!! I really planned to buy this printer not using original cartridges because i know that Lexmark originals are soooo expensive. I bought mine without cartridges which is why its so dirt cheap. I paid about US$10 for this thing. So i can say I got my moneys worth for this printer. The hard part was finding the non original cartridges. Most of what is readily available are HP's Epsons and Canons. But its really worth the effort. Imagine having a photo quality printer for less money
