Great scans on the cheap - part 2!

by nad_masters nad_masters is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Computer Hardware, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 100, Jan 25 '03
Pros: Fast, great quality scans for the price, low price
Cons: None significant.
Note: Actually, I bought a Microtek ScanMaker 3840, but it was not listed on Epinions, and this is as close as it gets. If Epinion list this item, I will move this review there. Enjoy the review!

The Microtek ScanMaker 3840 must be very new,...

Great scanner for the price.

by cycokiller , Jul 26 '02
Pros: Cheap, quality scans, easy setup, fast, quiet, asthetically pleasing design.
Cons: The auto lamp shut-off doesn't always work and will stay on for days..
Until now I have always used an old Mustek 24-bit SCSI scanner which worked fine until the upgrade to XP. I looked around for a couple weeks and noticed the Scanmaker 3800 at OfficeMax for $59.00. I'd heard from others that Microtek scanners were...

Great Scanner

by naid , Apr 14 '03
Pros: great scan quality, easy to use and install, cheap price
Cons: no on/off switch, bulky
This scanner competes well with other scanners on the market. It has a resolution of 600 by 1200 dots per inch and 9600 by 9600 dots per inch using software emulation. It also scans fast but it gets slow as you increase the scanning resolution. It has...

Good scanner for the price

by hnnatyahoo , Apr 30 '03
Pros: Cheap decent quality scanner
Cons: basic model
I bought this scanner from Fry's a couple of months ago for 39$.

It worked well for me since I do not fancy features as the high end model offer. Color looks decent and fast scanning speed.

The Wizard software is OK. I...

One small problem

by jcthomas , Dec 01 '01
Pros: Under $100,fast,great OCR,easy to use
Cons: Thunking sound accompanies color banding
The bottomline is that although this scanner is great in most respects it has one major flaw. At the halfway point of travel (about 5"-6") the scanhead makes a noticeable 'thunk' sound and the resultant image has a color band. On the first unit it was a...

good scanner this microtek scanmaker 3800
by adityadixit44 ,Feb 13 '04
Pros: Crisp scans, quite fast
Cons: none considering that its worth every penny you pay for
If you are looking for a scanner that is cheap and powerful at the same time, then look no further. It has to be the 3800. Very good scans and very fast too. Although cant enlarge photos very much due to limited resolution.
