Pros: warmth, comfort, light weight, less bulky appearance, value Cons: short length, not waterproof
This is a great jacket for it's intended use, i.e. keeping warm in very cold environments. I wear mine by itself on cold and calm-to moderately windy days, and I wear it as a layer on cold nasty (wet, and exceptionally windy days). Activities I use it ...

Good Camp Jacket, packs well.
by cxshih ,Mar 03 '07
Pros: Warm, packs well in to included bag, fits well Cons: not waterproof
I bought this jacket for those cold nights at camp on the mountain. It does a good job of insulating and comes with a small storage bag. The jacket compresses well and packs small for backpackers. I like the higher collar and velcro wrist collars to keep out the draft. The jacket is not waterproof but it is filled with Qualofill so it should still keep you warm when wet. (although not very comfortable). This jacket does not have a hood. (The Subzero parka has a hood). It has a decent amount of storage with a zippered outer breast pocket, two hand pockets and an inner breast pocket. The jacket fits well over layered clothing and under a pack.
Overall, I would not recommend this as your only jacket for cold weather ascents because it has no hood and is not Gortex. But it is a good jacket when you are not active and need to keep warm like lounging around camp or around town.

Good packability, warmth
by gsveum ,Apr 25 '05
Pros: Light, compressible, great all around cold weather jacket. Cons: Not waterproof, there are better jackets for serious mountaineering
I was debating if I shouldn't pay the higher price for the SL Conduit version of this jacket, and decided to go with this lighter, more compact, (but not waterproof) jacket. I like the compressibility which I use when hiking and camping in higher altitudes in which the weather can (and has) left me stuck before. If wet weather is a concern, I just wear my Exposure 2 jacket over this one. It looks a bit puffy but when your in the back country who cares? The lower portions of the jacket are a bit on the thin side, but I wanted light right? I also enjoy wearing around town during freezing weather. Very good jacket for all around use, but upgrade for more serious mountaineering.
