Pros: Versatility, WiFI, Open Source, Linux, Screen, Form Factor, OS2008 Cons: Pouch/Case, maturity of some applications, charger.
Let me make a confession first: I am a gadget freak and love to get geeky with electronic and computer toys. In this context, it is not difficult to understand why the N800 Internet Tablet appeals to me. However, I will be the first to admit that it is ...
Pros: surf the net just like a real PC, high resolution display Cons: program crashes, slow CPU, needs more RAM
I've never owned a laptop and have wanted one for a long time. The portability and convenience is second to none. And with the increasing presence of public Wi-Fi connections you are no longer limited to internet access at home. My problem was I never ...
Pros: Great pocket internet browser, some interesting multimedia options, Linux base allows lots of customization Cons: A bit big and heavy, some rough edges on the software
The N800 Internet Tablet is a difficult device to review. If you dont know why you would need one, then you probably dont. But if you can appreciate its virtues, its a useful device indeed. Basically this is a small tablet computer that ...
Pros: Highly portable Internet browsing device Cons: Video limitations, no real keyboard makes long emails tedious
"Nokia's latest device, the N800 Internet Tablet, is unique, to say the least. It's not a smartphone, yet it can send and receive e-mail messages; it's not a phone, yet it can make phone calls; it's not a portable multimedia player; yet it can playback ...
Pros: Does everything, Wi-Fi Internet, Email, Chat, Games, MP3s & Video in your pocket Cons: Need to be a little techy to get full use.
First I should confess, I’m a gadget dork!! If it has a power button, a manual that is infinitely complicated and requires more effort to actually use it than a standard conventional method….I MUST HAVE IT!! I purchased my Nokia N800 about a year ago ...
Pros: May be all the electronics you need to take when traveling Cons: Needs wifi; doesn't work on T-Mobile cellphone (GPRS) network like my smartphone does
I take my Nokia N-800 when I travel. With a wifi signal I can download emails, which I can then read offline (and compose replies to send when I next have a wifi signal). I also need to check a couple of web sites every day even when traveling, and the ...
Pros: fun, fairly flexible, give me the net, ma, on the road, and a readable display Cons: not totally smooth yet, still has a beta feel, albeit with that indescribable open-source appeal
This is the right direction, and the choice between a blackberry and this device was easy. All I had to do was add unlimited Internet to my Cingular contract. T-Mobile is even better, because for the same $20 they include hotspots, which is their strength, although their basic network is slower. Minor annoyances were the fact that the automatic setup entered the wrong parameters for Cingular, apparently the ones for someone who has a laptop card, but my whole point in buying this device is that I want neither a laptop, nor a smart phone. The fact that I can be out there and do a quick email is half the battle in NYC, or even look something up on a site. In reality however the (free) WiFi availability is not up to snuff, and Earthlink's generous offer of a free Feather WiFi account does not work in NYC... so the next thing will be to switch to a 3G phone with GPRS, and an upcoming N95 with GPRS should just fit the bill. More and more apps available in the new edition helps as well. Google, Skype, etc. Great help on an overseas trip, beats taking a laptop.
Pros: Great screen
Decent Sound
Linux Community and Open Source backing
Gizmo will run on it! Cons: No stills with Camera (yet)
Not a ton of apps (yet)
USB-to-GO not utilized (yet)
Very nice toy... Wait did I say toy? Well you just may play with the crazy thing for hours but I wouldn't call it a toy, it's a pretty serious little machine. A bright and clear screen, bluetooth, 802.11G wireless, 2 SD slots and a Web Cam. This internet tablet means business. I was a little late coming to the game I read reviews about the 770 and wasn't impressed so when the n800 came out hoping that the issues I read about were fixed, I jumped all over it and a week later I'm glad I did. If you haven't played with one yet check out your local CompUSA or Fry electronics, but do your research before hand neither store had a employee that could tell me anything about the 770 or 800.
Pros: lots of potential, RSS, Media playback work great, easy to connect to wireless network. Cons: limited web surfing capabilities, needs lot of work arounds if you're a mac user.
So far this is a great internet tablet. I'm a mac user, so I've had to make some consessions. I had to purchase Allegro's media streaming software to access my iTunes library via the media player ($40) and I don't get anything purchased on itunes. The internet radio feeds work great and the RSS feeder is working well.
Web surfing is ok, pages optimized for mobile viewing are fine, but large sites with lots of graphics don't load very well.
Overall, there is a lot of potential as long as you don't expect a rich web surfing experience.

Pros: - Great form factor
- Amazing looking screen
- Touchscreen works great Cons: - Buggy OS
- Limited software options
- Too slow to watch YouTube videos
I had been lusting over the Nokia 770 for a good while but could not bring myself to buy one because of all of the reports I heard of instability, slowness, and general quirkiness. As soon as the N800 came out, however, I pounced on it, too excited about the new, exciting toy to wait around for reviews. I was elated for about my first week with it. Sure, it the browser would crash sometimes, and sure it wasn't all that much faster than the 770 I'd played with, but it was DAMN COOL! As time has gone on though, it's gone from damn cool to damn annoying. The browser crashes on me an estimate of one in five times that I use it, and it's just too slow to use for some of the cooler stuff you should be able to do with it, like watching YouTube videos. It randomly reboots itself, or the browser crashes, or something frustrating happens like the whole system running slow as molasses what feels like every other time I use it. N800, I had high hopes for you, but you're well on your way to ebay.
