Pros: High powered zoom, night time capabilities, video with sound, AAs, feels solid. Cons: LCD Viewfinder is hard to see in bright light.
My wife and I take LOTS of pictures, occasionally providing images for local publications, so I knew what I wanted in a replacement for my lost Pentax Optio. Research of the latest pocket models around 200 bucks became a real chore, there are so many new ...
Cameras have become very complex. The software in these devices is very sophisticated, it tries to handle many things for the user. The downside is that it becomes increasingly hard to describe if a camera is good or not. A camera maybe good at some or ...

Awesome camera for the price by calista77 ,Jun 04 '07
Pros: Huge LCD screen, loaded with features, 6X optical zoom, quality and price. Cons: No manual viewfinder.
I bought my Panasonic DMC LZ7 a week ago and I'm glad I did. I was originally going to buy a Canon, but after much research online I discovered this camera. I love the big LCD screen and the ease of use. This camera comes loaded with features that most high end (and more expensive)cameras have. I've had nothing but fantastic results, the pictures are beautiful, clear and the colors are outstanding. It takes about 30 mins to read through the manual and look over all of the features but once you do using the camera to its full potential is a snap.
Pros: Simplicity, long shutter speed options, battery usage Cons: Simplicity, no manual setting
I studied photography for a couple years before I decided to buy my own digital camera, and this little number was really good for what I paid. It's pretty simple which is nice for new users, and although it doesn't have some of the fancier settings that I would've liked, it really is a good camera.
Pros: picture quality Cons: battery, no viewfinder
I'm extremely disappointed in Panafax. Ok - it's my fault I didn't get a camera with a viewfinder. And I hate it. But I hate their solution on batteries. Either I try to find their Oxyride battery,,,,which I can't find easily...or at all, or I need to use regular AA batteries. They don't recommend using anything else! I've tried to call Panafax, and gone on their website..Horrible website. I used to love everything Panafax (phones, fax, camers, etc.) what a disappointment. It's like they don't care about the customer any more.
Pros: Excellent features for the cost, when it worked. Cons: Extremely poor durability A little bulkier than I would have liked
I owned this camera for 13 months before it stopped working... one month longer than the warranty, unfortunately. After a period of about 6 weeks that I hadn't used it I found it wouldn't turn on. I went through several battery options and also the USB/firewire connection and still nothing. Apparently the on/off switch just crapped out. A call to Panasonic customer service informed me that they weren't aware of any manufacturers defect with the switch, despite that I'd found other web reports by users with the same problem, and that I'd have to send it in for repair. I could pay $169 flat rate to repair whatever ailed it--about what it would cost for a brand new camera--or $56 for a diagnostic assessment afterwhich "maybe" management would decide to repair the switch for free. I decided to save my money and put it into a new camera made by a more reliable company. My recommendation: avoid this model (and possibly other Panasonic products) like the plague!
