Pros: Excellent picture & sound, very handsome looking unit. Cons: History of defective voltage regulators in Panasonic plasma sets.
I bought the Panasonic TH-58PZ700U on 6/3/07 from Circuit City for $4333 (after a 10% discount coupon). The 600U series was highly rated in Consumer Reports. I was originally going for a 50" model, but I had the space for a 58" above the ...

Pros: Style, Picture, SD Slot, Remote control, Price Cons: Sold with a known and major defect
The Panasonic TH-58PZ700U is not only a great looking Plasma TV, but the picture on it is incredible. The remote control, besides not being backlit, is excellent in layout and functionality. It's great having the SD card slot, and although some people ...

Pros: Picture quality is by far better than anything I've seen out yet. Cons: 1 more HDMI input would be nice.
I waited for 1080p to become more mainstream so that it could easily display 1080i and 720p without problems, and still have capability for Blu Ray 1080p High Def DVD'd. I waited years and years for a Plasma like this, and now it came out. I got mine ...

Blinking Light of Death Oh No
by aimtrue ,Jan 09 '08
Pros: Picture- great- sound -great easy to use Cons: Difficult to move if delivered-blinking light of death.
I read the review on this and subsequent reviews elsewhere. As the failure rate was only in 2-3%, I figured what the heck I won't win that lottery. Well I did, in a way. When it was hooked up it shut down and would not re-start. Service came out and a cooling fan was replaced. The problem was fixed. So, service gets a good rating, but durability is in question.
Easy to use, great picture, great sound although I am now putting sound through surround sound speakers. The size is large- be careful if you order on-line- Maybe spring for "white glove service". Mine was dropped at the front door. I needed to move it from there and the box is huge with great packaging. Also it is big, the instruction call for securing it to the stand AND a wall.
Remote is easy, does not try to be too much. Love it so far

Blinking Power Light of Death - Oh Noes
by noisy123 ,Feb 08 '08
Pros: Excellent Picture, fantastic upconversion and rendering of 480i signal. Cons: Extremely faulty components leads to a common failure.
This is a fantastic television at an excellent price, except that less than 2 days out of the box it stopped working. The television will not power on, it just repeats a 7 blink error code. We are returning it and will be very cautious purchasing another Panasonic product.

Blinking power light - 2 days after I first turned it on
by mshastri ,Apr 21 '09
Pros: Good looks. Easy to setup. Cons: Menu access not very intuitive from the remote. Stopped work ing in 2 days.
Well, its almost mid of 2009 and I bought my Panasonic from Costco last week (50 inch plasma). Mounted it on Sunday. It's been, well, a full 2 days since I turned the TV on the first time and it has shut down (blinking 7 times). Called Panasonic - they took down all the details and promised to call back (a very polite lady, thankfully)
I am seriously thinking of returning this and going for a Sony. In looking at the other reviews on this site and on the net, I don't have any confidence that the replacement will be trouble free. Can't take that risk after all the costs and efforts of buying and wallmounting the TV (Panasonic said that I have to get it down for the repairs - which makes sense but I am not looking forward to that exercise - just 2 days after I so proudly mounted it on the wall).
