Pros: Smooth, dark, clean, even, cleanly erasable lines. No lead to sharpen or break. Cons: Skipping common, may be extreme on some surfaces.
I bought a 3-pack of the Pentch Ultrasharp Liquid Graphite "Pencils" by Jakk's Pacific to use on crossword puzzles and Sudoku in the Los Angeles Times, and my recommendation is: PASS
Although they often write more smoothly, darker, and cleaner than even a mechanical pencil can ever hope to do (and fresh marks erase very cleanly and easily), they have one serious flaw: rather than occasional minor skips as the previous reviewer noted, with a surface as smooth as newsprint, they often have great difficulty producing anything resembling a line! Multiple retracings and tappings may result in a series of dots and streaks that make a readable character, but this extra effort required on far too many occasions makes these Liquid Graphite products unacceptable for this purpose. I have tried them on a few other papers such as general purpose/photocopy paper with mostly better results. I have not tried them yet on notoriously difficult surfaces such as thermal printer paper, but at this point, since they are unsuitable for my originally desired purpose, I don't intend to bother.
