Pros: Good picture quality; Fits in a tight space Cons: Delayed response time; Too lightweight; Menu not intuitive
Electronics prices continue to fall on most types of goods and items that once cost a week or more salary are now purchased with a couple hours of pay. One product that certainly fits this description is DVD players. They once cost several hundred ...
I recently decided to buy a cheap DVD player to put in the bedroom to go along with our Magnavox 15” LCD TV. At the time, Wal-Mart was running an ad for a Magnavox DVD player that was less than $30, so I went to the store intending to buy it. When I got ...
Pros: Easy to hookup, can watch movies without being embarrassed by vulgar words Cons: Doesn't work with DVDs distributed by Universal that don't have "CC" symbol on box.
I love TV Guardian technology and recently bought this DVD player at Target. During the past six months, Ive really gotten sick and tired of all of the unnecessary profanity in movies. Its not that Im prudish, I just think its ...

Inexpensive Product Lacking in Design by honest_abe999 ,Nov 06 '06
Pros: For the money it is average. Cons: Remote is too small and the zoom numbers cannot be removed from the screen
I purchased a RCA DVD247N model DVD player when my progressive scan Phillips DVD player broke. I chose the player only because it played multiple formats. The player seems to work fine overall, however, it is poorly designed in two aspects: [1]The remote is incredibly too small and very difficult to read and [2]The zoom feature leaves this annoying white numbered 2x,3x,or 4x square box smack in the middle of the TV screen which you cannot remove. If the movie is wide screen and you wish to zoom in 2x larger, this feature is
truly distracting. Phillips engineers were much better in their design for this type feature and no such annoying display remained when you zoomed in using their product and it played more formats than this RCA model. There is also very little information on line with the exception of a manual. In fairness, The RCA model did provide a tray open
button which Phillips did not provide.
This bargain DVD works for me. by jatdk325 ,Dec 10 '07
Pros: Good picture, low price, and very versatile Cons: Slow start, picture zoom is useless.
I bought this DVD player for $20 after rebate. The Good: This is a very light and slim DVD player. It will play almost every kind of discs and formats, except DVD-RAM discs. In addition, it will play DivX, MPEG4,and JPEG files. The Bad: This DVD player takes awhile to start playing a DVD movie. Sometimes the widescreen movie is long and tiny, so I need to zoom the picture. But this model does not work very well, the picture becomes blurry and over zoom when only pressed three times. Also, the annoying zoom indicator word does not go away and stays on the screen.
