Pros: Inexpensive, works well, compact for storage Cons: Noisy
We owned an electric ice cream maker for years, but the last time we had it out the clear plastic lid broke and we couldn't get it replaced so we threw it out. We have missed our family recipe for Lemon Velvet ice cream, as we make it on special ...
When it comes to ice cream makers, I usually buy the cheapest models around mainly because we're not real big ice cream eaters (Popsicles, yay!). We may use them, always in the summer, three to four times before they always burn out or fall apart. Then I ...
Pros: It gets the job done... Freezes Ice Cream to soft serve point nicely Cons: Noisy
I love making homemade ice cream for my family and friends in the summer. I found a good base recipe and enjoy trying to make new flavors. I borrowed an ice cream maker the first couple of times but soon decided I need to get my own. I really did not ...
Pros: great tasting homemade ice cream for a good price. Cons: The noise but if you are in the other room it is fine.
I bought it with recipes in mind. I started out with strawberry ice cream, MUCH BETTER than the store bought. The price of the ice cream maker was excellent. It is a alluminum cylinder. When i opened the box i thought the cylinder was broken ...
This thing can't churn water, let alone ice cream that is getting thicker by the minute. It got halfway through the first back (2 quarts, not even full capacity). I followed the instructions and even those for when the unit jams, and still had to constantly monitor it and give it a finger assist to unstick it.
The second attempt was even worse. It jammed from the get go, even with 1 quart only of mix. I ended up spinning it *by hand* with the motor disengaged to get my ice cream. It just cannot spin it- the clutch already seems worn out. Stupid mixer- not worth the cheap price.
Maybe I got a bad one, but Rival makes cheap crap with low quality control.
Pros: soft, cold ice cream, cheap Cons: noise (but its not really that loud
I was surprised at how good the ice cream we got for this sub $20 ice cream maker. I was shopping around to get a more advanced one, but never got around to buying it, so I picked this one up at WalMart. We froze the bucket and got the ingredients good and chilled. We made fresh strawberry ice cream (sugar free) and it tastes wonderous. We are so making butter pecan next. Now it did take awhile. We had to freeze the bucket and we stuck theingredients in the freezer too for a couple hours so tey we nice and cold, lmost frozen when we put them into the maker. We didn't bother with crushed ice either and just put cubes in. 45 minutes later we have delicious ice cream. A little soft, but just like I like to make store bought ice crema before I eat it (if you know what I mean) I would certainly buy this again if I had too. Oh, but it is a little loud, so I would get it started at a time you don't mind the noise
Makes good ice cream and inexpensive by erseow ,Apr 06 '08
Pros: Inexpensive and actually makes good ice cream Cons: Noisy operation and can get stuck some times.
This ice cream maker works great. Makes good ice cream, but is noisy. Also, you need to keep it an eye on it if it gets stuck, but just unplug it and rotate the drum and plug it back it. You will now with the ice cream is getting done, as the sound of the motor will get a low with a slower rotating speed. Just pull out the paddle, and chill it to harden the ice cream. Fresh made from the drum will be soft serve still ice cream. Works fine for the price.
