Pros: Looks nice, temperature selection, dishwasher safe Cons: Durability and functionality
I purchased this fryer for $50 because I wanted to be able to make a larger number of french fries simultaneously. I went through two of them in 4 weeks. The first unit was defective right out of the box, it would not heat the oil to a high enough ...

Don't bother
by jenijenjeni ,Oct 13 '07
Pros: Easy to use, non-metal bowl inside, the controls were nice Cons: Lid would pop open will cooking. Then is stopped working completely only after 3 months.
Only lasted a few months. Bummer, I really liked it until it started having problems so soon. First, the lid would pop open by itself...very dangerous when you have kids!! So I would have to put something heavy on it when it was cooking. Then a couple weeks later it wont heat up at all. I am so disappointed, I only had it about 3 months and I really liked it. I used it about once or twice a week.

Good Fryer...plastic parts not so good.
by litmag01 ,Mar 16 '07
Pros: Great capacity and maintains temperature well enough for a consumer fryer. Cons: Controls can melt at high temperatures. Ordering replacement parts difficult
Product frys evenly and maintains regular temps. The contols are easy to use and basket is easy to remove. However, controls tend to melt at higher temperatures (especially the timer control) and replacement parts are often back-ordered 3-4 weeks.

Confused!!!
by theepx5 ,May 31 '09
Pros: Size, cooks evenly and quickly, breaks down for easy cleaning. Cons: None yet after a year.
I have had this fryer for over a year now and have had no issues with it whatsoever. There is however on flaw on the lid and that is because my wife left the lid up and the halogen lights on my rangehood melted a spot on the plastic. I do notice that if you do not clean the unit after use there could be potential problems. But that is with wll small appliances. So you can see why I am confused with all the negative reviews. Plus my mother fell in love with mine and I had to buy her one so she would leave me alone. Her's is still doing an excellent job at 10 months of service.

Like Size - But not the defects!
by bartnsis9 ,Feb 02 '08
Pros: Like the size and easy to clean. Cons: Would not recommend because of the defects - doubt if we will buy another one.
I really liked this style and brand of fryer until the second deep fryer started having defects. The first one I had just quit heating up one night the cord would not stay plugged in. We only had the fryer for 6 months use before it became defective. I really liked it and we looked for another one without the magnet plug thinking that might be the problem. We discovered all the deep fryers no matter what brand had the same type of plug. The most recent one I have purchased - we have only had since December 14, 2007. while using in the last two weeks the lid has started to pop open and that is very dangerous one could get burnt. I had to put the metal topper from my pressure cooker on the lid to keep it closed. I guess we will see how much longer it will continue to heat up. We purchased the deep fryer for $34.95 not counting tax.

Piece of crap
by chickenrun5002 ,Apr 07 '08
Pros: nothing that I can think of. I wasted my money. Cons: Everything broke on it! And hard to clean.
I paid way more than the other reviewers up here in Canada. First of the magnetic cord would hardly plug in, never would heat up decent enough to fry anything well. Then all the plastic parts broke, one by one! Have only used it maybe four times.. The lid will not stay closed, the basket will not stay up.. I could go on and on. What a shoddy piece of work for the money.

GARBAGE!!!
by jah_thanks ,May 02 '08
Pros: Not any because of the short life span. Cons: Heating element broke, plastic parts unreliable, lid doesn't stay closed, basket drops.
I loved my fryer for the first 2 weeks I had it. Then it stopped heating up! The lights came on saying it was ready, but the oil wasn't even warm to the touch.
Also, the lid doesn't stay shut and the basket will drop without touching the button to drop it. Good thing the oil isn't hot or we would've had severe burns from the splashing basket.

Replacement cord discontinued
by patsuzette ,Jul 10 '09
Pros: Size, style, price. But if you cannot get replacement parts what good is the machine. Cons: Not very good business to discontinue a part but still sell the same item
I really liked this fryer when I bought it. Used it 3 or 4 times, then lost the cord. I called Rival, the cord has been discontinued, but they would sell me the exact same model with the exact same cord for a 25% discount. Well, what happens when that cord disappears or stops working....I will never again buy another Rival product.
