Pros: Small In Size, Big In Sound Quality, Great Style Cons: Battery Charging Issues, No Windows 2000 driver support YET!
This is my first review on the internet, but after spending so much time researching MP3 players I wanted to advice those that will follow me. After several weeks looking, holding, testing and pricing MP3 players, the RIO900 was the clear choice for me....
I purchased the Rio 900 as I was fed up of carrying my CD walkman around and a wallet full of CDs. I looked around and this unit seemed the best value for money. It had 192 meg memory and was being sold for CDN$229.
The unit only takes...
Pros: Good features. Feels like a quality device. Easy installation, anybody could do it. Cons: Only one. The proprietary battery never
held a charge,
Only after purchasing the RIO 900 did I realize that the battery and the extra memory were both proprietary.
The ONLY thing I really disliked about the RIO 900 is the inability of the battery to hold a charge. After I purchased it I learned that the...

a Diamond Rio 192 MB is perfect for you!
Gave the Rio 900 to my daughter for Xmas. The software loaded fairly easy onto XP and we had music loaded onto it within the hour. We fit most of 4 CD's worth of data (converted to MP3) onto the player. My daughter loves it.

Roomate had the 800 and convinced me to try it out. Went for the 900. Quality so far leaves alot to be desired. The headset is terrible, doesn't fit my head. Very difficult to load software on my system with XP. Had to call customer service (no toll-free) and have the guy walk me through it. Then the volume control went on the skids. Spent another whole day just trying to get a return RMA (huge hassle). Have e-mailed them several times and they Never respond. The customer service has been the worst I've experienced. Hard to believe they stay in business. Go with another manufacturer.

It took 4 months to get my first service issue dealt with, it worked well for about 4 more months and now I'm having a hard time getting them to respond to a recharging issue.(it won't)
This was an upgrade for me from a Rio 600. Since the configuration is the same, it was an easy transition..The added memory over the 600 is awesome but, the software it comes with (Realone) stinks..It tries to take over your OS..Install the patch in the manual and use Media Player instead of the RealOne player..Purchase for $140 and definately worth the price..
For ease of use, storage capacity, and smart design this is the best of the bunch. Stay away from the SONY Magic Gate Memory Stick. It's a nightmare to use.
