We bought this monitor because I'm a nervous new mom and worried about the risk of SIDS. We've had a few false alarms now that our son is 3 months old and has started to roll around. Occasionally he will roll out of range of the sensor and the alarm will go off. But, the few false alarms are a small price to pay for a good night's sleep. The parent's unit sometimes has some static, but usually we can turn it to get clear sound.

Pros: light weight, tick lets you know baby is moving, relatively easy to set up.
Cons: false alarms, trouble with interference on parents unit

I have had a few false alarms with this monitor when my three month old moved into the corner of her crib. Getting the sensitivity right on the monitor is a little difficult. Also, I found that the parents unit picked up more interference than my previous monitor. There is no warning when the battery is dying in the parents unit. If the light on the unit seems dim, then you are supposed to change the battery.

On the pro side, the tick that lets you know your baby is moving is reassuring when the monitor works right, which is most of the time. The sound quality is also pretty good and the unit is light weight and easily portable.

We have been using the monitor for our 6 month old daughter since she was about 3 weeks old. We really enjoyed the peace of mind, however we have had some nerve wracking false alarms that are causing us to consider switching to a sound-only monitor. We were told by the company that the sensitivity setting could be an issue and that the alarm will sometimes sound when the batteries are low in the nursery monitor even if it is plugged in. What was meant to bring us peace of mind suddenly left us lying in bed waiting to hear each and every tick. No thanks!!

Pros: Parents can sleep peacefully knowing that their child is protected against SIDS!
Cons: The receiver for the sound tends to have a lot of static

My husband and I got this monitor after our 3 year old had a seizure and stopped breathing one morning. The only way I knew he had seized is because he had screamed out as it was happening! Had he not, he wouldn't be here today. :(
When I go the monitor, I tested it out over and over to be sure it would work- it could detect my breathing just by me laying my arm on my sons bed!!!
We have not had the alarm go off unless he got out of bed so there is no problem with false alarms that I can tell.
We liked this so much, we got another one for our new baby!

I got this monitor on the recommendation of a friend (and after carefully reading a million online reviews).  One of the reviews that sealed the deal for me was a young lady who said she had a bit of obsessive compulsive nature, and that checking on the baby to be sure he was breathing was costing her valuable sleep... then she said "if you are the type to get up and check the locks, you will need this monitor."  I put it on my registry with my next click! :-)  I have not had a single false alarm.  Luckily, it has not gone off in the 4 months my son has been with us, but I know it works because it has gone off a few times when I pick him up out of the crib and forget to turn it off.  He rolls all over the crib and I have no issues.  I think every new Mom should have this monitor.  My friend that recommended it did so because the AngelCare made her aware her daughter suffered from sleep apnea.  Without the Angelcare her little on might not be here. 

Pros: 1) Absolute peace of mind 2) Decent sound
Cons: 1) No out of range warning 2) Occasional interference and static

If you think you will be the kind of parent who will get up in the night to see if your baby is breathing, this is the right monitor for you. I sleep well at night because of this monitor.

I've had a few false alarms, but still worth it. Some were due to my baby moving to the corner of the crib. Another time, I think his breathing actually did become so shallow and/or infrequent that it may have been a valid alarm.

Between having this monitor and taking an infant CPR class, I feel that I have done everything I can to protect my baby from SIDS.

Pros: Lots of extra time with your baby as you're jarred awake multiple times per night
Cons: static- despite frequency Beeps constantly even if movement and breathing despite of sensitivity/battery level

Let's put it this way, if I wanted to be shaken awake several dozen times per night to find my son doing just fine in his crib- in several cases SNORING- I would have not bothered with a monitor at all.  It's on a firm surface, he's positioned EXACTLY over it, and it still goes off incessantly.  I've changed the batteries, I've changed the frequency, I've changed the sensitivity- now, I'm changing monitors.  

Pros: Ticking very comforting
Cons: Two false alarms,some static in the parental unit

The third day we were home with baby the alarm went off.This was very hard on us. Then one morning when i was looking at the baby the alarm went off,but I knew everything was OK. Other than that and a bit of static, on occasion, there is no greater comfort when you hear the ticking and you know everything is fine.

Pros: Sound activated so you don't have to listen to static all the time.
Cons: Everything else, especially the alarm going off all the time.

This monitor is a waste of money. The alarm constantly goes off, even without other interference (ie the mircowave). It has woken me up in the middle of the night numerous times. I even removed the sensor pad and the alarm still goes off. I have contacted Angel Care customer service numerous times and they have been no help. They do not stand behind their product.

Cons: False alarms if child rolls out of range of the sensor

My father is a fire fighter and in the 3 months prior to my daughter's birth, he made 4 SIDS calls in our hometown. He ordered the Angel Monitor for us and came and set it up. We originally had it in our daughter's bassinet and then moved it to her crib. We had a few false alarms when she rolled out of range in her crib, but it has been worth the peace of mind. We also had one instance when she did stop breathing and it sounded the alarm! That 1 time was worth it for us. It has volume control and you can chose to turn the motion sensor off. Now that our daughter is almost 2, we only use the monitor for sound. We fully intend to use the Angel monitor when we have more children.
