With the right batteries it works like a charm.

by gravyplaya , Jan 11 '06
Pros: HD widescreen lens, Best zoom, Edit pics and movies within the camera.
Cons: Wont work with alkaline batteries. Must use rechargeables.
I bought this camera for the specs, features and the price.. I loved using it when it was able to tell there was battery power.. After taking no more than 5 pics with the flash the camera would shut off complaining of low battery. then it would have to ...

hard to turn on! where's my kodak?
by hehealedme ,Jan 19 '07
Pros: features sepia and blk and white.......
Cons: can't get it to start..... how can i resell this? i can't!!
This camera is not worth the money. it will let you down. it is vary hard to activate, thus losing that special moment. Samsung really knew what they were doing when they figured out how to take the customer's money. I just went and bought the kodak easy share for about 240.00 and i am in love with it already! The easyShare is so easy to use; i didn't even read the directions!

Absolutely Worthless
by brandylee1214 ,May 01 '06
Pros: The size of the camera and the size of the screen are nice
Cons: There are too many cons to list
Overall this camera was a complete waste of money. I had to exchange one for a malfunction of the lens cover, and I wish that I would have just gotten my money back. This camera cannot take any motion pictures regardless of the settings, so there goes taking pictures of children or animals; they are just too fast for this camera. About 80% of the pictures taken with this camera were blurry and unusable. The camera now takes one picture and turns off automatically regardless of the battery age. The only good thing about this camera is that it is sort of small.

Not worth the money
by bm5650 ,Feb 13 '06
Pros: Features and size
Cons: Blurry pics, double flash, and over exposure
I purchased this camera at Sam's Club. I spent around $200 and I cannot say it was worth it. Like the previous reviewer, I cannot get a clear, crisp shot. Even outside the pictures were blurry. The flash wanted to operate even on a sunny day. This is going back to the store.

I will try to get a full refund....
by tools-n-toys ,Jun 04 '06
Pros: pretty compact, good lens specs
Cons: battery life/response, pre-flash, motion blur
Despite its impressive list of specs & features (for the price), this camera would hardly be welcome if I won it in a drawing. It does not take overly good stills. It cannot handle any motion during the shot (even with flash). You cannot shut off the pre-flash (red-eye reduc.?) that I could figure out. I have had difficulty getting my computer (Win XP) to connect to it (w/ USB). The movie recording is mediocre at best. But the most annoying part is the way it handles low battery situations --- it will suddenly just leave the lens out & the only way to get it in is to install very fresh batteries (probab. above 1.4v so rechargables are about useless). To be fair, though, I have not thoroughly studied the manual for resolutions, nor have I called Samsung. That said, I still regret this purchase.

Nice features but could not take a satisfactory picture
by hokiebird ,Dec 21 '05
Pros: Full featured, good 2.5" LCD, easy to use, good video mode,
Cons: blurred photos, difficult to hold steady, slow to focus and double flashes
This camera is loaded with wonderful features and is relatively easy to use. But, as an example, I was never able to take a photo from a one-foot distance of a subject. Yes, I had the settings correct. I just could not hold the camera steady enough. All photos were very blurry. It would have required a tripod. I used my trusty old Sony DSC-P30 and got perfect results. Other photos with the A55W were not acceptable either. I'm not a picky person and could accept a photo that the experts would laugh at. The long focusing time, double flash, etc. just made me uncomfortable. I also did not like having to dump the photos onto a larger memory stick. Too bad...it is full featured, compact with a fairly good 2.5" LCD window that I was able to at least use outside. I can't recommend it.
