Pros: Sony quality, sharp vivid picture Cons: No great way to view normal TV image without distortion
Well, we finally bit the bullet and upgraded to flat panel from our old Mitsubishi 32" TV with the bulbous tube and a big pink spot in the upper corner. The Sony 40" fit in our cabinet with a half inch on either side to spare. Haven't been able to ...
Pros: Excellent color and blacks. Very customizable picture and sound. Sony quality and design. Lightweight. Cons: Price.
I've tried a variety of LCD TV's: Sharp Aquos 37", Sony 32", Olevia 37" and now the Sony KDL-40V2500. This is my first 1080p TV. LOOKS Looks are important. Sony is HOT. Just look at a lesser name brand (Olevia, Westinghouse or Sceptre) and ...
Pros: Great, clear picture. 1080pHD picture. Year warranty. Many inputs including 2 HDMI inputs. Cons: Line of LED backlight went out under warranty, cycle time through inputs.
Bought this TV to replace 19" CRT. Wow, this set is like a new experience. The Sony BRAVIA KDL-40V2500 40" is my first foray into the world of High Definition TV. When I bought this set one year ago, I did extensive research compared to other sets ...
Pros: Great picture, great sound, easy to use, multiple set-up options, multiple input methods. Cons: More expensive than the others (like Samsung, Sharp, Toshiba). No Cable Card, no Picture-in-Picture.
I went to a number of different stores and actually looked at the TVs. The 1080p Sony Bravia KDL40V2500 appeared to have the same great image as their 40" XBR2 model, but at a significant savings ($400-$500 difference). Both of those Sony LCD HDTVs had ...
Pros: -crisp, clear, and vibrant picture! -PC input to make TV your computer monitor Cons: -no picture in picture option -only 2 HDMI inputs (would like 3)
I have always owned Sony televisions and have never been disappointed. When we went shopping for a larger flat screen TV,we new we could trust Sony, and we were right! The Sony Bravia 40 inch LCD flat screen HDTV is the best purchase I have ever ...
Pros: it would have been a nice TV if it worked Cons: was bad right out of the box
My husband and I got the 40″ LCD Sony Bravia with a one year warranty. We paid $2,098.79 for it, and we bought it March 31, 2007. We got it at Circuit City and we applied for a Circuit City/Chase credit card with 36 months no interest. Yay! Now ...
Pros: Picture quality. Best TV on the market in my opinion Cons: Mute does not turn on/off Close captioning. Does not come with HDMI cable.
The quality of picture on this TV is so much better than anything I have seen in any other TV (except the ones costing twice the price and even then they only match this quality and do not exceed it) that I would not even consider buying any other TV. I compared to a number of other including rear projection, Sony XBR, and plazma. None have better picture.
My experience is only 5 days and I am still learning. So far I have found nothing that I don't like except one thing. When you turn Mute on, the Close Captioning does not automatically turn on as other TVs do. I have to turn it on through a longish menu. However, my guess is that is Sony's way, other manufacturers like Toshiba, do it differently.
I am very happy with the purchase, especially because I found a very good deal and paid only $1800 with shipping.
Pros: Picture,Sound, Numerous inputs, PIP, Sony Name Cons: No Cable Card, Remote is kind of plain
I bought this TV at Best Buy under a special they were having with 3 years of no interest. It replaced a 32" Sony WEGA CRT Tube SDTV set. The KDL-40V2500 picture is amazing, everything sony has built a reputation for, bright, crisp, no ghosting, no dead pixels. It has a ton of inputs and was really easy to setup. The built in speakers sound surprisingly good too.
I really like this TV given a paid a premium of about $500 over a comparable 720p set from LG or Samsung.
My one complaint is that it does not support cable card. Is anyone using the Digital tuner on board, my cable company says it will not work w/o cable card.
Pros: High Def Quality Cons: Awful picture from non High Def sources
Thank goodness the store took this TV back even though I had discarded the box. The only TV's I have owned are Sony, and this model is the first dud. Unless you are receiving High Definition on EVERY broadcast, the picture quality is awful. There is no "pop" to the picture. Colors look washed out and contrast is almost non existent. I ended up with a Sony rear projection 42" LCD and I couldn't be happier. This picture is beautiful, regardless of the source.
Pros: If I could make love to this TV, I would. Cons: Slight clouding issue. Not bad enough for an exchange.
I've been planning on getting an HDTV for a while now, and for months I've been researching which ones are the best. I finally went ahead and got this thing after ages of research and I don't regret it for a second. If anyone out there is like me and has been thinking and thinking about getting this puppy, just do it. Get it. I have an upconverting DVD player and popped in Last Crusade and it looked like it was full on HD. I couldn't believe my eyes. It wasn't cheap but I got a pretty decent deal at Best Buy. This thing will hopefully last me for years and years so that I won't have to buy another TV until the next step in technology is taken, which I guess would have to be holographic projections at this point.
A Few Minor Complaints (In Order) by janderkin ,Sep 20 '07
Pros: PC connection and plenty more, HD's beautiful, Attractive, Seems a little sturdier than others Cons: Standard video sources are Awful, Video channel switching is too slow, Wish it was bigger
1: Standard video sources look as bad or worse than an old big-screen. (Even with S-video and HD composite cables)
2: Switching through video channels can be painfully slow. (In fact the entire channel switching process is disappointing)
3: It's amazing how much bigger a 42" screen looks in comparison to 40 inches. (I can't help but wish Sony sold a 42" model)
On the bright side, this TV produces the highest quality HD picture that I have seen to date. I do not have a 1080p source, but I have seen what it can do in the store. I do have
my Xbox 360 connected at 720p and it's hard to tell the picture can be even better. I really like the PC video connection, It was relatively easy to get it to play movies from my computer in standard DVD quality. I also play HD movies in 720p though the Xbox and computer. I have had my set
for about 6 months and aside from a few minor complaints I really love it. I can barely stand my standard Directv video
quality, but the built in HD tuner eases the pain(antenna required).
LCD Panel failure in 15 Months by anmcarter ,Dec 01 '08
Pros: Initial good quality picture and sound Cons: Very short life span.
Initial overal satisfaction for the $2300 TV was high, but 15 months into it's un-boxed life it began to suffer green wavy haze picture. At first it was for an hour or two, but eventually it became permanent. No extended warranty was purchased and Sony has failed to accept any responsibility. We now are looking at a $1400 repair bill or the trash. I'm leaning toward the trash option.
