Sony SVR-3000 TiVo

Pros: It's one of the best looking TIVO's.
Cons: Only one tuner.

I have long been looking at getting a DVR, but I've always looked towards getting the DirecTV variety. Unfortunately thats not a possibility where I live, so finally I broke down and got a regular cable-tv one.

Pros: Watch Television with no commercials, pause live TV. Great addition to any home AUDIO system.
Cons: Degraded video quality. Not really 80 hours if you record at high quality.

I love the fact that I can record my shows while away, so the Digital Video Recorder gets major points for it’s basic functionality. I’m used to the old VCR days and I must say, “boy have we grown.”

After two years, out unit stopped working.

The machine started clicking and freezing, so we returned it to the Sony branch in Pennsylvania.

Sony wants $150 flat fee to repair it.

But - and here's the horrible part-
we did nothing to cause the damage!
Sony stated that it's a frequent problem with the unit.

What a disgrace!
We bought the unit because of the Sony name, and they are aware this is an ongoing problem??

And they want $150 to fix their own problem??

Terrible!

Shame on you, Sony!

AND- you can't reach corporate headquarters to complain-
no telephone numbers made available- contact them only by writing a letter.
