Pros: Works just like a desktop, nice looking, easy to use Cons: Heavy, low output of sound
Before I begin I would just like to state that I am not a computer genius. I dont know a lot of technical descriptions for things that happen inside of my computer, but I do use my computer quite a bit. So this review is for those people who, like...
Pros: Packed with features, huge screen, has no problems doing anything you want Cons: Heavy, awkward to handle, very expensive accessories
This is without a doubt the best laptop I have owned yet. As an avid computer gamer, I have often wanted to play games on the road but was unable because the performance of my laptop could not match that of my desktop.
Pros: Excellent multi-media capabilities, big screen and good graphics Cons: Heavy especially in a laptop bag with other things, BIG AC Adapter
I would like to start by stating that I did a lot of research on laptops before I bought this one. I wanted Win 2000 OS and Sony GRX was one of the few systems that offered that along with other cool features.
I also wanted the 512 MB RAM and 40 GB...
Pros: Machine functioned for nearly three years and then bugged out. Cons: With what seems an inherent flaw with the motherboard, all bets are off.
The Sony has been my workhorse for nearly 3 years until it wouldn't boot up one day. I took it to Fry's and they sent it to Sony when they couldn't determine what the problem was. I submitted in it Jan and it was returned in March with a replaced ...
Pros: Fast and clean looks. Great multimedia computer. Use for work and home. Cons: Heavy
No Floppy Drive
I purchased this computer with two main objectives: one for multimedia, especially digital pictures; and, two for work and home use, but mainly work use. I like the sleek look of this lap top and it performs well. It comes with all the features I need...
Pros: Beautiful screen Cons: Poor soldering of the memory socket
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I am like the over 1200 other people who have signed an online petition to have Sony recall and fix these machines. It seems that there is a latent defect in the soldering of the memory socket. I had to ...
Pros: Good video, does not overheat even in MS, comfortable to use Cons: LOW QUALITY, noisy, 15` screen in a 16`body -big and heavy to carry it daily
I was happy with this computer until it broke 4 months after the warranty was over. The Sony support guy told me that I have to replace motherboard because the socket for RAM is broken. Sony is asking 800$ for this (today I can get a new notebook with the same features for 1000$!). So I was using the 256mb of RAM which were in a different socket. Few days ago it broke also. So I am looking for a new computer now. Not a Sony! I found a person on the Internet who fixes notebooks and he told me that this is a common problem for PCG-GRX550. I believe that Sony have to do a recall or fix their mistakes for free!
ALL GRX550 laptops are defective! by michelle0 ,Oct 14 '05
Pros: Before the defect occurs, it is a great system overall. Cons: Class action lawsuits and petitions demanding recalls are found throughout the net!
ALL SONY VAIO GRX550 Laptops have a SODIMM Solder defect which causes the system to stop booting after approx 1-2 years. SONY is charging 700.00 to replace these defective motherboards!
Class action lawsuits and petitions demanding recalls are found throughout the net!
This defect is not exclusive to the GRX550 either!
