Pros: Helps you work towards your fitness goals. Cons: This is minor, but -- the rewards are not very exciting.
A Sportbrain is what I'd call a "smart pedometer". A pedometer is something that one wears on one's ...

Pros: Small, can be cheap if you find a deal, truly motivating Cons: Can't see steps, paid membership required
I always talk the big talk about exercising and getting fit. Then I do about 2 weeks of yoga and one night decide to "relax" and never start up again. That is until the next exercise wave hits months later. So I decided I needed a better motivator to get ...

Pros: Highly movtivational and fun. Cons: Poor rewards, not much community, phone interface is outdated
There are pedometers, which measure the distance you travel and/or the number of steps you take, and there is Sportbrain, which does the same thing, but in a fun, web-enabled way. Sportbrain is a cool web-enabled pedometer that provides feedback into ...

The Premise/Promise - The SportBrain company pedometers are often referred to as smart pedometers. The appeal is that you can upload your pedometers readings to the Sport Brain website and see graphs to chart your progress. It also shows you how many ...

Pros: when it works it is a great motivational tool Cons: the company's customer service department is horrible
When I first bought my SportBrain after seeing Oprah recommend it on her show I was thrilled with it!! I used it for about 6 months or more until the company suddenly went bankrupt and discontinued its online services. Like many loyal customers, I was ...

Pros: Very motivating and fun. It's addictive! Cons: Monthly fee to use, but it's small (under $10) and VERY worth it.
The Sportbrain pedometer is the coolest gadget out there. There's nothing like it. It is a super stylish oval shaped pedometer that clips to your pants and records each step you take throughout the day. At the end of the day you drop it in a little...

Pros: The sportbrain is a great way to track your daily steps and get motivated. Cons: Requires a yearly membership to access the website.
I have had a Sportbrain Istep for many years. I love being able to watch my steps on a regular basis as it motivates me to do more. It is easy to wear and has a safety strap which is a must. The downside is that I have to replace the ...

Good product, bad support and reliability
by adamb314 ,Jan 20 '07
Pros: Features and website capability Cons: Product is not reliable, and when it breaks very hard to get fixed
I purchased a SportBrain iStep X2 around a year and a half ago. It worked great, as described by other reviewers, with a fairly accurate step count, good upload capability, and many more features than I ever needed. The product itself is fairly good.
However, the initial unit died within the first 6 months, and the warranty replacement died at about one and a half years. At this point SportBrain is saying since it only has a 1 year limited warranty they won't repair it, replace it, nor sell me a refurbished unit at a discount.
If you are happy with having to replace it every year or two its a good product, but I expect a bit more longevity out of my purchases. In addition, as another reviewer mentioned, their support staff is not that helpful.
