Pros: Exceptionally comfortable. Superior construction and materials. Cons: The price. The height. Very difficult to get out of bed in the morning!!
The joy of mattress shopping. Ahhh, about as much fun as root canal. Both the sellers and the makers conspire to make it this way for you, the consumer. How do they do this? Simple, by confusing you. Each mattress firm allows each seller to pick...
I was told in several different stores this was the best commonly available mattress if you needed an extremely firm and extremely durable mattress. Something about the coils being twice baked and basted in their own juice, I think. You could pay much...
Pros: Wrap yourself up in the cradle of comfort Cons: You will always want to call in sick and stay in your comfy bed.
14 long years ago my wife and I purchased our first new mattress. We knew that the hand me down model we had needed to go when we kept waking up in the center of the bed. It seems the mattress had developed a valley down the center.
After shopping for a mattress for about a couple weeks we decided to go with the Stearns & Foster mattress, the "Cadillac" of the mattress world. We wanted a high quality and very firm mattress. I thought it was too firm, but with my wife's back ...
Pros: Very supportive and well-built. A helpful remedy for bad backs. Cons: Extremely firm mattresses are the anti-thesis of the pillow top revolution.
The Stearns and Foster Exeter Ltd, otherwise known as the "E" series, is a well constructed, supportive, and very firm mattress. People who like "sleeping on a cloud" will run from this product like a vampire from sunlight. And the market for such a...
Pros: Attractive Cons: Uncomfortable, Heavy and Over Rated
I am very unsatisfied with my S&F Exeter Queen set. It is 2 years old and now I must go out and buy something else.
The main reason is the sagging where my husband and I sleep and on the sides where you would sit. I have regular and overstuffed...
Pros: If you like a hard bed it is ok for a year or maybe two. Cons: The bed deteriorates to the point that it can do you serious harm.
We bought an Edinburgh Mattress which seems to be another name for an Exeter 5 years ago. For the first few years it was fine. However over time it slumped and softened more and more. We paid close to $2,000. Stearns and Foster has a warranty but it r ...
Pros: Very comfortable and well made mattress. Cons: The number of Stearns and Foster dealers is limited.
The mattress is comfortable and well designed. It feels like most new mattresses...very good. Time will tell whether it wears any better than the Sealy I bought for about the same price 7 years ago. The buying experience is not one of life's ...
Pros: Had a good reputation. Cons: Retains body heat. Poor customer service.
After a long time Sealy consumer, we decided to upgrade to Stearns and Foster; however, to our disappointment, Stearns and Fostes is no longer make the cadillac of the industry. First, the Plaza series mattresses get hot. It retains the body heat ...
After two years buying a second Exeter mattress by kalnrs ,Oct 23 '03
Pros: Firm and well built Cons: Combined mattress and box spring height is a very high 18 inches.
We bought a full size Exeter mattress and box spring from JCPenney about two years ago. We like this mattress so much that we are now out shopping for the same mattress in queen size. Our lucky son will get the full size set.
Wanted a "quality" mattress to last into our retirement years by nikki1947 ,Jan 09 '06
Pros: It is a very beautiful bed. Cons: Sinking into bed. Turning and movement is difficult. Ridge in the middle. It's a nightmare.
After a few months, the pillow top CA King started to sink into two deep indentations where our bodies go, creating a ridge running down the middle. We followed all the instructions of flipping and turning but it did not help. It causes neck and back pain and we are unable to sleep on it.
We called the quality store where we bought it and they after a period of months sent out someone with a string who measured the level of indentation.
It was not enough and we were refused help by them and the store where we bought it. They are not responsible for our "comfort". But that's why we bought the Stearns and Foster in the first place. For comfort and durability and quality.
Now we are stuck with a bed that neither of us can sleep on. We have to buy another bed and are currently researching different types. So much for buying a quality and guaranteed product. So much for going to a quality store.
Do not buy Stearns and Foster (Sealy made) by reviewer421 ,Oct 02 '05
Pros: the mattress cover material feels soft Cons: lumpy lumpy lumpy!
I just bought an Edinbridge Plus.
It is has been slept on for only 7 days.
It is already lumpy and higher at the edges than in the middle.
Cost $1900!
I can trade up and pay more to do so.
This is the worst mattress I have ever owned.
I will never by Stearns and Foster or it's parent company Sealy again.
A lot of money for horrible service by ivanterry ,Apr 29 '05
Pros: Absolutely none Cons: Please read...
I recently purchased a Stearns & Foster Rosewish for $2400 at the Mattress Firm due to their reputation as the best. Within 2 weeks, my wife and I noticed an indention in the mattress. I went to the store and they convinced (coerced) me into buying a stiffer frame, which did not eleviate the problem. I called the warranty department and they took 2 weeks to visit and made notes of a small stain. I told them that the problem was with the indention and they refused to replace it. I have spoken to Stearns & Foster directly and they were very unprofessional and rude; not willing to help in any way. I called the Mattress Firm's corporate HQ and they refused to do anything as well... BEWARE!
Pros: Initial Comfort Cons: Impressions formed quickly and Stearns & Foster did not stand behind it
We purchased a Stearns & Foster queen sized pillow top because it was initially comfortable and we were reassured with the promise of quality that would last. While we really liked it initially, impressions started forming after the first year and by a year and a half, we were having back pains.
We found that the retailer and, especially Stearns & Foster, were not helpful in resolving the problem, they refused to replace the mattress despite deep impressions (as certified by their bed inspector). We are youngish professionals with many years of bed-buying ahead of us and we will definitely not purchase another Stearns & Foster mattress.
Does anyone know if S&F is a Sealy product, so that I know who else to stay away from?
