Does an excellent job!
by btydna002 ,May 28 '08
Pros: Cools Well Cons: Little Noisy
This portable air conditioners cool, dehumidify and can also be used as fans to cool a room. It is easier to install than window units. You'll need to place the unit somewhat close to a window, since you'll need to exhaust hot air outside. This Sunpentown 9,000btu AC unit has high energy efficiency rating. It does an excellent job cooling my 300 sq. ft. room. Make sure to set the unit on Cool mode instead of Auto Cool. This will bring the temperature much lower.

So Not Cool!
by ladybug2021 ,Jul 02 '07
Pros: Portability Cons: Loud Compressor, Cost, Heavy, Customer Service, Defective
I bought this air conditioner locally after much research. It was fairly easy to set up and it indeed blew cold air. The problem started when the room temperature was 85 or above, it just didn't work. I even tried to turn it on before the room became hot, I left the room and came back a few hours later and it had gone down 1 degree! My bedroom is within the recommended square footage. So what gives??! I called Sunpentown and got an answering machine during business hours. Two days later someone calls me back. At that point I had already decided to return $400 headache to the store. It would have been worth the money if it in fact did what it said. Warning: For those of you who have vertical windows that close from side to side instead of horizontal windows (up and down) I wouldn't recommend it, the adjustable window kit isn't made to be cut. I thought about using it in a smaller room in the house but realized it wouldn't work in those type of windows.
