Was fine for 5 months now it's horrible
by voyager101 ,Jul 25 '09
Pros: NONE Cons: Doesn't last... Foam starts to get softer over time... extremely heavy
I purchased the Tempur-Pedic Euro bed at a huge discount from a store that was going out of business so there is no warranty... Now I'm tossing and turning all night... waking up in the morning with lower back pain and stiffness... I seem to be sinking way into the bed now like the foam is breaking down or something... can't sleep on my side w/o my arm falling asleep and no way could I sleep on my stomach... and this bed is so heavy.... even with 2 guy's it's hard to move it around...

Dreadful and expensive
by copperwoods ,Jul 28 '09
Pros: Movement doesn't disturb your partner. Cons: Expensive, hot, and wears out fast.
Purchased this Tempur-Pedic mattress about 3 years ago. Initially it was fine then gradually became softer and softer until it felt like you were sleeping in a pit. The mattress encases your body until you sweat like crazy. "Climbing out" of the depression where your body is located is like crawing thru a sand dune uphill. Warranty is useless since the bed has to have a vsible depression and the memory foam seems to look normal when you are not in it. They don't tell you the foam gets softer over time.

Worse than sleeping on the floor
by jamesnjojo ,Mar 26 '06
Pros: I can't think of any Cons: Not made for sleeping
The only reason this bed got 1 star is becasue I couldn't give it 0. I have never been so sore and unrested in my life. We got our bed a week ago and after the "breaking-in" period, it's only slightly softer than a rock. I sleep if I'm lucky 3 hours until I wake up and start tossing and turning for the rest of the night. I have have woken up with a very stiff and sore neck and the whole right side of my body is stiff. I have decided to get SOME sleep till we get a refund, I have to sleep on the couch (which you have to have a pillow under you so you aren't laying on a edge of wood.... different story), or in the twin bed with my 3 year old. Getting kicked in the side and smacked in the face many times a night is well worth it compared to the value of sleep I'm getting now. I am l looking into a Select Comfort/Sleep Number bed now. Buyer beware.

Hate our Tempur-Pedic mattress
by dowjbw ,Dec 14 '05
Pros: You don't disturb your partner as much when you move in bed Cons: Hot, exorbitantly priced given its actual two year life span, wears very poorly.
I researched this mattress on-line, and the salesman gave his pitch. But my husband and I both hate this mattress. It is only three years old and we are both sleeping in significant ditches on the mattress. It is also very hot in warm weather. We paid too much to be able to replace this one so soon, but BEWARE - in our opinion this is an unacceptable mattress.

Raves from back pain sufferer!
by lovebed ,Apr 04 '07
Pros: Supports your entire back and waist. Don't feel the other person move. Cons: The cheapest style is hot in the summer, I understand.
I had surgery on a herniated disc in 1981, and currently have degenerative disc disease and scoliosis. I had been loosing 2 hours a night of sleep, about 2-3 nights a week due to pain, for probably 10 years. About 20 visits to a chiropractor a year. Lots of pain medication.
I've had the tempurpedic bed for 3 months, and have had only 3 nights of pain, total!!!! I could have had that in 1 week before!
Additionally, I don't wake up when my husband, a night owl, gets into bed, or when he gets out of bed. I don't feel his movements!
I've spent over $1000 for each bed the last two times that I've bought a bed. They lasted 4 years until they caved in. This has a 20 year warranty.

Average at Best!
by indiesmall ,Aug 24 '07
Pros: Won't disturb your partner getting in and out of the bed
High quality foam Cons: Does not support
Causes back and neck pain
expensive for foam
Last year my boyfriend and I purchased a king size Tempur-Pedic Swedish Mattress. This was going to be our new bed in our new home. I recently purchased a wonderful bed but it was a queen and he wanted a king. After much deliberation, I let him decide because I am young and he is 22 years my senior and more often than not experienced aches and pains. What a HUGE mistake! This bed is terrible. He sleeps like the dead and I toss and turn all night. I am now the one with aches and pains. It feels awful and it does not support the body well. This is just my humble opinion. However, I am not a doctor. If I had my way, I would through this bed out the window. Unfortunately, he loves it and since we spent a fortune on this product, I am stuck with glorified foam. So to make a long story short, I sleep in the guest room in my old bed and it is wonderful. So, my final review I hated it and he loved it! Thank you for reading my rant.

Like sleeping in a sinkhole
by moschberger ,Feb 07 '06
Pros: Spring mattress manufacturers have nothing to worry about. Cons: Very disappointing experience.
We purchased the Tempur-Pedic with very high expectations fostered by the video and a friend's recommendation. After the very difficult initial adjustment period (smell and lack of support), I noticed that my lower back started to ache and that if I slept in a fetal position (left or right side) I was in so much pain that I would have to lie on my back (I am a side and stomach sleeper). So I cannot understand the claim that it reduces pressure points. Also, the claim that you don't feel another person's movement is blatantly false, unless they are a wine glass. If the person next to you is heavy, their weight causes a deep dip in the mattress creating a sliding sensation. It's awful and cannot be recommended for anyone who has any kind of orthopedic problems. Some claim the mattress is too firm; I found the opposite to be true. It's much too soft and lacks proper support for the spine. After suffering through one month, we called the mattress store to haul it away. The advertising is a lot of hype. Save your money, your time and your back.

Expensive, but worth every single penny!
by ajeetm ,Jan 08 '06
Pros: The ultimate in support and comfort. Cons: Sitting up on your backboard can be a bit uncomfortable. Designed for laying down only!
How much would you pay for a good night sleep? As much as a tempur-pedic costs!! We've had our deluxe king tempur-pedic for about 6 months now, and it has TOTALLY improved how well we sleep! Before the tempur-pedic I would always wake up with a sore neck or back and shift around constantly. But when I lay down on my tempur-pedic I usually DO NOT MOVE the whole night until about an hour before I wake up. This means I'm being properly supported and don't need to shift around, which leaves me waking up rested and refreshed. I can't say enough good things about this bed. Everyone should have one!!

MY PAIN IS WORSE!
by lindazal ,Mar 10 '08
Pros: Felt good in the store and for the first few weeks Cons: Hurts my back, neck spine very, very much. The heat. The price
We purchased the bed about a year ago, on the raving recommendation of several friends. I have several back and hip conditions which are very painful and I thought this bed would help. My pain has only increased over the last year. After going on several trips and staying in hotels, I noticed that I felt much better sleeping in the hotel beds. We just got back from a few days away and I felt terrific. So now, I'm sleeping in the guest room until I figure out what to replace it with
I absolutely hate that we spent so much money on this bed. Also it does heat up and we hate that also.

Worst mattress ever made
by belle01 ,May 22 '08
Pros: None Cons: Too stiff, extremely uncomfortable, too expensive, causes back pain
My sister-in-law and her husband purchased one of these beds about 2 years ago. I was intrigued at first because of the ads I saw on TV, and soon found them to be completely false. This was by far the most uncomfortable mattress I had ever had the misfortune to lay upon. It was extremely stiff, and after a short time, my back hurt worse than before I laid on it. I have arthritis in my spinal cord, and this did not help it in any way. I feel sorry for anyone who chooses this brand as it is a waste of good money that could be better spent on a better quality mattress. A large piece of foam is a horrible idea of a mattress. My water bed that I had was so much more comfortable and relaxing. I guess the old saying "Don't believe everything that you see on television." Boos to TempurPedic for such poor quality.

Better than we expected
by dpcag ,Aug 04 '05
Pros: Very comfortable, no rocking & rolling, eases back pain Cons: Heavy, a little hard to change sheets
We bought a California King at the standard hight about two months ago. We had read many reviews and thought it would take time to get used to the bed. We loved it from night one. We also bought the factory foundation and used a hollywood frame. I weigh 240, my wife is 120. Every time I rolled over or got out of bed my wife went for a roller coaster ride -- NO LONGER. We live in a mild area and thought the bed might be too warm, but it hasn't been. However, we have found that we can use lighter covers. The bed is heavy, but since we don't have to turn it, that is not a big problem. But, it takes a little effort to change the fitted sheet. My wife found the Tempur-Pedic pillow (standard style) too firm and switch to a feather pillow. I like the Tempur-Pedic pillow. I honestly think I sleep better on this bed. I still wake with some arthritic pains, but not as bad as they used to be. We have found the bed comfortable whether sleeping or not.

I love this bed!
by revlinp ,Mar 26 '06
Pros: Firm support without being too firm. Cons: Price.
Well, after months of thinking about it and reading all of the reviews we could find here and elsewhere, we decided to take the plunge and bought the Tempur-Pedic Deluxe. Wow! I have had a couple of car accidents and several surgeries so pain is a constant thing for me - particularly in my hips and lower back. Today is the first day in a VERY long time that I woke up without pain!
4/17/06 - update. What really amazes me is how well I sleep without waking up. I used to wake up three and four times a night. Not anymore. My husband is also sleeping more soundly, and the shoulder that he was having trouble with is finally not paining him.
3/07/07 - update. A year later and still happy! I did discover one thing going through last summer - yes, it gets a bit warm. I fixed that with a waterproof cover we were sold when we bought the mattress; it deflects the heat a bit even though that makes the bed harden a bit. Good compromise though! We're still very pleased with our purchase - we just wish we'd gotten an adjustable one LOL

Listen to the One-Star Reviews...they are truthful!
by jillynyc ,Jun 04 '09
Pros: None. Cons: Most uncomfortable bed on the market.
Worst bed I have ever "slept" in. You can't get good sleep - you are up half the night in great discomfort & sometimes outright pain. Just horrible! Shame on the makers & marketers of this product! Production should be discontinued and it sould be taken off the market...it is hazardous for anyone with bone & joint problems (and if you don't have joint or back pain, after sleeping in this thing for any length of time you will)
I inherited this bed from my mother so am thankful I didn't lose any money on this junk. It simply does not "give". It is like sleeping on a slab of heavy, squishy clay. I had 2 surgeries recently and had to resign myself to sleeping on the sofa as this bed is very hard to get out of and impossible to recover in. I notice among the reviews there are mostly 4-stars or 1-stars...very few in-between. Am convinced the 4-star reviews are planted here by folks associated with the Tempur-pedic company. The myriad of one-star reviews speak the truth.

If you have the means.....
by sedryn ,Aug 22 '06
Pros: This mattress is extremely comfortable. It does everything they advertise. Cons: Over priced
the first week was strange. I wasn't sure if I liked the mattress or not. It's a whole new way of sleeping if you have slept on springs your whole life. After a week I was sleeping like a baby. I look forward to hitting the sack now. Its like I get an extra hour or two sleep a night. If have the means, you wont be disappointed.
I would like to say they are worth every penny but I do think they are way over priced. Although, you can save a couple thousand by utilizing Ebay (I did)

2nd Awesome mattress
by greenhaven003 ,Apr 22 '07
Pros: Helps with the pain. Cons: Not using mattress pad and have trouble with bottom sheet, will buy suggested elastic straps.
This is our second mattress - first was 9 yrs ago and the original mattress. We have given that to our son who thinks he's in heaven. We decided to buy the Celebrity mattress with the pillowtop because we wanted a higher mattress. We had been very happy with the first mattress and love this second one even more. Yes, it is expensive but so worth it. We both have bad backs and hardly move during the night. I read the 2 reviews from people saying they had Fibromyalgia and not to buy Tempur-Pedic. I have had Fibromyalgia for 15 years and this brand has been a god-send so don't let the 2 reviews scare anyone off. I would highly recommend it and also use their pillows. I had a fluffy mattress pad on the first mattress even tho they said not to. I haven't put one on this one - we went from a CA King to a reg. King. I ordered the mattress protector from Tempur-Pedic and it hasn't come yet but I know it won't match the fluffy pads that I am use to. We're trying to get use to not using one like they suggest.
