Pros: Beautiful grounds, good service, excellent dining in the Newport Room Cons: Huge, by Bermuda standards, slightly impersonal and busy, ugly building
The Fairmont Southampton Princess is a very good hotel in a very ugly building. Ugly duckling though it is, it swans its way into your heart with very attentive service.
Pros: restaurants, employees, and everything is done with stlye and class Cons: nothing
I have gone to Bermuda about 4 times in my short lifetime. The first two times was to the Hampton Princess which is across the island and is the sister hotel to the South Hampton Princess. The last two times to the South Hampton Princess. The South...
Pros: Large, full service hotel, great amenities Cons: Many rooms have terrible views and/or are unrenovated; too far from Hamilton (restaurants/shopping/ferry boats/cruise boats)
My wife and I stayed at the Fairmont Southhampton Princess in August, 2002. We were a bit disappointed upon check-in to find that although we had been told we would have an upper floor room (which in this case means a renovated room), we were instead...
Pros: none Cons: Value for the money
Quality of the room
When we arrived at this hotel, the bellman basically ignored us (or he was too busy doing other things), either way it wasn't a pleasant arrival. Although the lobby can qualify as a quality hotel, you are not sleeping there.
I was surprised when...
I have been to Bermuda about 7 times and have stayed at 4 different hotels. Of all the hotels I have stayed at the South Hampton Princess was the most luxurious and expensive and also my least favorite.
Just re-opened and fabulous! by dbm2001 ,Jul 20 '04
Pros: brand new, immaculate, gorgeous views, fabulous beach Cons: long wait for shuttle from restaurant
We stayed at this property March 2004 immediately following a several month rebuild following a major hurricane fall 2003.
Our room was of course brand new but just beautiful in every way - we stayed on the Gold club level and the food and the service was fabulous -
The hotel is on the bus line and you can rent mopeds on site - between the beach and the restaurants, the spa, the golf, shopping (many of the same stores and same prices and in Hamilton) the pool etc etc we hardly wanted to leave though.
Also there is a water taxi several times a day between this hotel and their sister property in Hamilton.
I hope the Southampton Princess stays as nice as it is now b/c I would definetley like to return!
I cannot begin to express the level of service I received at this hotel from the staff. I had my destination wedding there and they did an incredible job from the food to the beauty of the location, they did an amazing job.
Everything was spectacular. They took care of my dress and everything as if it were their own. They really know how to put on a show there. The personal attention & level of detail were phenomenal. My guests all raved about how beautiful the wedding was, how incredible the food was, etc.
The spa services there are excellent too! The beach is gorgeous and this location cannot be beat! If you are considering it for a vacation or hosting an event, don't hesitate, they did a wonderful job and treated us like royalty. It was worth every penny, they assured that my wedding was absolutely perfect!
