Pros: Packed with old-school Newsboys bounciness and clever lyrics. Cons: Tries too hard to be like the Newsboys of old (short album length and all).
I'm sure you're familiar with the old adage "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." We'll, there's a corollary to that rule: "If it weren't broke, and ya done fixed it, then fix it back to the way it was before it was broke, ya IDJIT!" This is ...

Pros: Um...well...it's still the Newsboys, and there are some innovative parts. The lyrics are great. Cons: Has an odd unpleasant blend of sound and draws too heavily on mismatched musical influences
Thrive(v. thryv):To make steady progress; prosper.
To grow vigorously; flourish.
Newsboys(n. NOOZ-boyz): one of the more popular Christian bands around, noted for their catchy choruses, sharp lyrics, and tendency to, well,...

Pros: Good album Cons: None
Background
I've been a fan of Newsboys since the early 1990's when I first saw them at Creation on their "Not Ashamed" tour. They have always had this way of taking the edge of currently popular rock and applying it to unabashedly Christian...

Pros: Lots of fun, creative Cons: Bad choice of cover artwork
While they aren't the best Christian band in existence, the Newsboys aren't far from it. The five man group, with some help from former producer Steve Taylor, has done it again with a fresh set of songs about putting our trust in God and how He cares for...

Pros: inspiring rock. Cons: It is hard to pick what songs I like best.
After reading the other reviews written about this cd...I had to chime in. This cd defined 2003 for me. At the beginning of the year...it was all about THRIVE. "Down here in the valley, nothings able to grow, cuz the lights too low...Folks spend their ...

Pros: it sounds good Cons: but the songs aren't worth the production
Some might color me crazy, an evangelical agnostic, for reviewing a CCM album, but there is method to my madness. I am not all about photonics and McDonalds bashing and Alanis nausea-- I'm also about good new fashioned rock and roll.
I've been...

Pros: songs are memorable Cons: ay yi yi
I own many Newsboys CDs, including Going Public, Take Me to Your Leader, Entertaining Angels Maxi Single, Love Liberty Disco, and Step Up to the Microphone. I bought this one 2days after it came out. Every other CD I have enjoyed. Not this one. I...

Good for easy listening
by hondapcgirl ,Jan 13 '04
Pros: It is You, Cornelius & Live in Stereo Cons: Thrive, Million Pieces
I'm ever so slightly disappointed in this CD. Only one of the songs really grabs you (It is You), and a couple others are good for really getting into it (Cornelius, Live in Stereo), the rest of the songs are just ok. Some have good very lyrics (Giving it Over, Lord). But the CD isn't good for much more than listening to at work, where I don't get to really listen to it much, anyway, but it's not annoying music to have on in the background.
