Pros: very well constructed, amusing, some wonderful characters, nice tributes to other works Cons: inconsistent and unexplained time travel mechanism, contrived and leading at times, ending comes too fast
I've been hearing the name Connie Willis for quite some time. I freely admit I am a geek with a geek's love for science fiction. I hang out with other geeks who share that love and we sometimes talk about our favorite books, stories, and authors. Connie...

Pros: Wonderful comedy with interesting characters and time travel concept Cons: Nothing really. A bit of a difference in mood between some scenes, but that's it.
To Say Nothing of the Dog, by Connie Willis, is a Victorian time travel romp with some touching moments as well. This is my first Willis, and its very different from what Ive been led to expect from her. Thats why it took me a...

Pros: Intelligent, witty, stylish, absorbing. I laughed out loud. Cons: Bit on the long side for what it is. The ending was too facile
Hugo award winner, To say nothing of the dog is an eclectic wonder
part Historical romance, part mystery. Winding around ideas which are pure science fiction, Connie Willis spins an hilarious yarn. No-one could pigeon-hole this book ...

Pros: Quite funny Cons: Quite long
Connie Willis is quite the writer, this is certain. Recently, I devoured her excellent new book, Passages. Finding it quite tasty, I moved on to another course, To Say Nothing of the Dog. I was a little leery, because as a rule of thumb...

Pros: A fun romp through Victorian England Cons: Not everybody's idea of science fiction
The frighteningly rich and appallingly mannered Lady Schrapnell has invaded Oxford University's time travel research project, promising to endow it if they help her rebuild Coventry Cathedral, which was destroyed during an air raid in World War II. The...

Pros: Erudite research, droll humor, complex plot. Cons: Style may be exasperating to some.
It's definitely a love-hate thing I have with Connie Willis. The inimitable style of this Queen of the Non Sequiturs is vividly on display in To Say Nothing of the Dog, a Hugo Award-winning time travel saga brimming with seemingly random...

Pros: Light, clear writing style, real people. Cons: Willis has only written two long novels. Sob.
I want to be Connie Willis when I grow up!
Two days ago I would have said I've never ready anything by Connie Willis that wasn't blindingly brilliant. Right now I'm in the middle of Remake so I might have to revise that opinion. Check back in...

Pros: A real bundle of warped and twisted threads of a plot.Great! Cons: Plot is too twisted for some to follow .
"To say nothing of the dog" was the sub-title for Jerome K.Jeromes novel "Three Men in a Boat" and lo and behold the dog ,Montmorency and the three men make cameo appearances in Willis` novel of screwball comedy,time-travel and Victorian ideals.

Pros: Complex and intriguing plot; likable and humorous characters Cons: cons? in this book?
When I first read Connie Willis's _To Say Nothing of the Dog_, I was driving through Kansas. My mother kept asking me why I was laughing so hard. In a lot of ways, it's difficult to explain the greatness of this book--a lot of people probably wouldn't...

Pros: Fascinating and complex plot; enjoyable characters; funny; good-natured Cons: Takes a while to get into; can be frustrating to read at times
To Say Nothing of The Dog by Connie Willis is one of the most unusual science-fiction books I have read in a while. It is a great combination of a old-time mystery novel and a time travel science fiction adventure. It is truly a fun book to...

Pros: Delightful story and characters Cons: It ended
Reading Connie Willis' To Say Nothing of the Dog, one cannot help but compare it to Jack Finney's Time and Again.
Both are marvelously detailed and filled with rich characters. The mechanism each employs to manage time travel is believable...

Pros: Well researched, funny, good mystery Cons: A bit long winded
I picked this up at the library. I had read Doomsday Book, Willis' previous time travel novel, and enjoyed it quite a bit. I was unaware that To Say Nothing Of The Dog was even nominated for a Hugo, much less that it had already won.

Pros: Humorous and well-written Cons: Long (and confusing at first).
Until I read "To Say Nothing of the Dog" , I wouldn't have thought it possible
for anyone to write a really good humorous science fiction mystery novel.
Certainly not one where the reader keeps tripping over allusions to several...
