Pros: Screen size & clarity, keyboard & touch pad, speed, ease of use. Cons: None that I've discovered yet.
I'd been using a Compaq Armada for the last 4 years, and it was driving me nuts that I couldn't burn CD's to save data or create music compilations from my collection of mp3's. Plus, the external floppy and the battery both went bust. After doing a ...
Pros: sound, size, screen, speed, versatility, card slots, many USB ports, 'useability'. Cons: none, I can think of right now.
I absolutely love my toshiba! I read some bad reviews on other sites, I think they must have been lies! I have had absolutely NO problems with my computer that oculdn't be fixed with a simple restart (nothing serious, one time my mouse was acting weird, ...
Pros: Excellent features Cons: Support and reliability
I purchased my Toshiba Satellite because Toshiba is noted for reliability. Maybe this laptop should not carry the Toshiba name. The modem went out on my laptop, which at home is not a problem, but I am a road warrior and there are places where the ...
Best laptop for the price, connects easily by futurefile ,Apr 06 '05
Pros: great display, network connectivity, stable, lightweight Cons: None that I've found
After dealing with my old HP laptop and having it constantly drop it's network connection, and processing at snails pace, I researched for a new laptop. I started low in price, thinking Dell, but the more I read, the more I wanted better multimedia and networking, plus dvd writing. It came down to a Sony or Toshiba. The Satellite M45X-S331 finally got my vote as best overall bang for the buck.
This unit connected to my home network just minutes after removing it from the box.
The display is widescreen, and so much sharper and brighter than anything else in this price range.
My non-tech saavy wife finds it easy to use and she adapted to it's slightly different keyboard layout soon enough. The keys are light, yet firm, and full size. It's built-in network card is tucked safely inside the unit, unlike the card, we broke one allready, projecting from our old HP.
The battery life is close to 3 hrs. The speaker volume is on the front and rotates on a real switch.
It shuts down faster than my dell 2.4G desktop.
I have nothing bad to say about it. It works, and looks good.
Hard Drive Dead in Under 30 Days by lililove ,Jun 28 '05
Pros: Big wide screen, nice graphics. Cons: Hard Drive died before a month of use.
This is my first laptop, but I'd heard Toshiba laptops were reliable. I love the wide screen and the cool graphics. Unfortunately, after owning this machine for just under a month, it died. I was unable to reboot to windows and when I returned it to the store, Best Buy, they determined the Hard Drive was faulty. Even though I'd purchased the $250 warranty from Best Buy, they told me that the data retrieval I required would run another $89 -- and that's after I signed away any rights to expectation of receiving said data intact.
Best Buy said I could expect my data in ... well they'd call me... as for the laptop, I should get it back in a week to 10 days.
Poor quality, lousy service` by tamilynn ,Jun 27 '05
Pros: I don't remember. It's been gone too long. Cons: Poor quality DVD drive. Horrible customer service.
I purchased this computer about 2 months ago. Approx. 3 weeks after purchase the DVD drive died. I sent it in to Toshiba's repair depot to have the drive replaced, and was told that it would take 1 - 2 weeks. That was over a month ago. I've been told that the drive is on backorder, and have been given 3 different dates for the drive to come in. Each time it's the same old story, it didn't come in today. Maybe next week. In frustration over the situation I have spoken to tech support, the repair depot, and Toshiba customer service. No one seems to know exactly when the computer will be repaired and returned to me. And no one seems to care. In searching the internet I have discovered that I am far from the only one who has had these sorts of problems with Toshiba. I will never purchase a Toshiba product again and I strongly caution other consumers against purchasing a product from a company that offers such poor customer service.
Nice Laptop, some and some -- by deepika825 ,Aug 13 '05
Pros: Amazing Screen Quality, and size. Cons: Hangs when power cord is plugged in or plugged out while you are working.
I purchased an HP laptop before this, and since I am into Internet Marketing and Search Engine Optimization, my data is very crucial and I work and manage a couple dozen websites. I lost data on my HP laptop because it crashed in days. I kept it as it is.
I bought this laptop from Amazon and so far, I see this has been great. This Satellite M45X-S331 finally got my attention as the best one. I trust Toshiba now since my brother in law has a Toshiba as well. The display is sharp compared to any other laptop (Trubrite technology).
The only downside is that sometimes when you plug in or plug out your power cable while working, the OS hangs. The only option at that point is that you have to restart your machine. This is the only downside. If problem was not there, I would buy 2 more machines for my staff :).
