Pros: Pairs with cellphone
10 stations
Clamshell design
Low cost (today) Cons: Requires cellphone "ON" (and charging) to use Mobile line
Tiny display on outside of handset
. . . if you need it's distinguishing design features. If not, look elsewhere. What are the these design features? Handset - Clamshell Design: The handsets function as "walkie-talkies" and provide Bluetooth for (eg) wireless headphones. So, ...
Pros: Right design idea. Cons: Bad implementation of some of the basic capabilities, questionable handset design.
I must have higher expectations of technologically advanced products than most people -- I'm surprised by the number of people who are very happy with this phone -- so I decided to add a review. Conceptually, the ELBT595 is the phone I've been ...
I purchased this phone specifically because of its ability to connect with bluetooth devices...but it just falls short in every area. The handset is a clamshell design; which is just inconvenient (can't put it between your shoulder and chin, can't leave ...
Pros: The idea. Time-to-market as people are ditching their landlines. Cons: Bluetooth interface not reliable. Doesn't work with most phones. Candybar would be more desirable.
The idea of being able to use standard cordless (or not) phones around your home to make and receive cellular calls is great as it gives you the convenience of a landline phone at home and the cellphone while on the road. With this, you don't need a ...
Pros: Cordless to Cellular Link, Good Range, Great Battery Life Cons: Difficult Bluetooth Setup
I purchased this phone because I get bad cellular reception in my condo building and now with the Uniden I am not stuck with sitting by the window to talk on the phone. This is not intended to be a full review (you can find those elsewhere) just some ...
Pros: Good Ideas. Cons: Poor Quality even worse customer support
I bought this phone because of the advanced features. Unfortunately, the CD that came with the phone crashed my WinXP Pro machine during install. After a few hours of failed attempts, I downloaded the software from Uniden's website. That got things up ...
Great Concept, But It Ends There by jackie_jackson ,Mar 09 '08
Pros: BlueTooth - pairs easily and works well Cons: Awful range - under 50 feet; Awful battery life; clam shell design and plastic face.
I waited for months for this phone to become available back in 2005 then ordered it two extra handsets - over $500 sunk. It has NO RANGE. The clam shell is not convenient to use in the house. The primary reason I wanted the phone was BlueTooth and that works pretty well - I still use it in my office - but the main reason it is useful is that I have a great BT Headset with good range. The batteries of all 3 handsets are now pretty much dead - 2 of them will not last more than 2 minutes off the charger and the 3rd might make 30 minutes before it dies.
I had never spent more than $100 for a phone and that was a 2-line Uniden with Answering - this is the biggest disappointment I have ever had in electronics I purchased.
Stay away from Uniden ELBT595 by maryjt ,Apr 24 '08
Pros: Pretty blue lights and adorable to look at. Cons: Phone on base cannot be replaced. Phone don't last past several months.
I had purchased the ELBT595 because it was adorable. When phone no longer works (like mine did)I tried to purchase another phone. After calling Uniden they told me I would have to buy a complete set,Because they dont just sell the phone alone. So after ordering another complete very expensive set. I was then left with 2 bases and one phone. After 6 months this phone stopped working. Now I am stuck with 2 bases and no phones. The first phone stopped working because it was cracked at the hinge and the second one just stopped working for no reason. All after several months. I cannot afford to keep up with these phones and now have to find phone that is reliable.
Pros: Talk on landline and cell. Download Outlook phone#'s. Use with BT headset.
Costco.com service Cons: Receiving bad batteries twice. Poor customer service from Uniden
Bought from Costco.com for $100 for full time home office. Using BT to link to both my cell phone (Moto Q) and my headset (Moto H700). After I finally received good battery it has worked great. Using BT headset to both talk on cell and land line is so convenient. Cordless link quality seems great. Speakerphones work great. Being able to download contacts from Outlook on my PC is a huge convenience.
Warning: Apparently Costco has old inventory and most of the handset batterys are bad. Called Uniden, they were not very service oriented but agreed to send new battery but by normal postal (10days to get). I then called Costco.com and their service was outstanding. They sent new battery by 2nd day express. Unfortunately though this battery was also bad but they were great when I called back and shipped me a new one the same day. Only hassle is I have to return the original for refund, but I can take it to any Costco store and they will refund all including shipping charges.
Slightly above average cordless by eshik ,Jul 24 '05
Pros: Compact, BlueTooth capability. Cons: No way to adjust mic sensitivity for handset, corded or BlueTooth headset.
The phone supports alot of cell-phone line features. I ended up choosing this phone because it supports BlueTooth headsets. I have had problems with cordless phones not working well with corded headsets. I ended up buy TWO different Bluetooth headsets, neither which seemed to work well with the phone. There were problems with mic sensitivity (too low) with both the corded (Plantronics M175) and both BlueTooth headsets for some calls.
The base station is smaller than other stations which saves desktop space.
The phone itself is compact and allows you to slip it in your pocket if you were to go outside to work on something. It also works as an optional room monitor so you can place one in a baby's room (don't forget to turn off the ringer).
Overall the phone does not seem as sturdy as a top-notch cell-phone, but seems better built than most cordless phones.
Since it runs 5.8 GHz Digital, there is no interfence when someone runs a microwave in the same room.
There are various other bell & whistle features, but you can see this on Uniden's website.
Very cheap feel to the phone. Not made very well. The hinge broke after only a few months just from opening and closing the phone. I returned to Uniden for repair. I get a notice from them that due to "physical damage" the warranty doesn't cover this and they want $70 to fix it. I call them to explain that the damage was done simply by opening and closing the phone. They pretty much call me a liar and proceed to be very rude to me and very disinterested. I will never again buy anything from Uniden.
Pros: Bluetooth, Clamshell design, Cons: Not user friendly, poor documentation, poor sound, mobile phone doesn't work with it.
The phone has the typical confusing, inadequate 100 page manual. Further, the manual has the usual poor index, so it is frustrating trying to find the items you are looking for. Even if a piece of software or electronic device is full of great functions, it is useless if it takes a long time, or impossible to figure out. I spent a long time trying to figure out some of the functions, and some I was never able to get. My secretary is very frustrated with this phone.
Poor sound quality and even at the highest setting the volume is too low.
