Pros: Powerful vacuum for cleaning carpets Cons: Head height adjustment stiff
Moving has meant buying a lot of item that we took for granted in our previous house. Since we had a central vacuum system I had to go out and buy my first vacuum cleaner ever. I chose the Vax X3 Bagless Upright Vacuum. The Basics This ...

Pros: cleans well, bagless, washable filters, self rewinding cord Cons: auto adjustment , noisy, somewhat heavy, not many attachments for attachment lovers
I bought the Vax x3 vacuum from Best Buy. I wanted a vacuum with filters that did not have to be replaced. Also, the Fantum Thunder I had started having problems, so I decided it was time for a new vacuum. I got the Vax x3 around Christmas, 2005. I ...

Pros: Simple to clean and maintain Washable, lifetime filters Powerful suction Ergonomic, simple design Cons: The wand hose can pop out when under great tension
I bought the Vax X3 for general-use household vacuuming of bare wood floors, rugs, carpets and upholstered furniture. I was impressed by its design--sturdy plastic parts, a nicely-shaped and sized detachable wand assembly, self-retracting cord, ...

It's not a Dyson
by ddcat ,Apr 04 '07
Pros: Retractable cord, simplistic cleaner Cons: Must empty canister & shake out filter to improve suction after vacuuming 2 rooms.
I purchased this at the recommendation of the Best Buy seller, who told me this vacuum was their best kept secret. He said it was only sold by Best Buy for many years, but now I'll begin seeing it everywhere. (They took it off the shelves 2 months after I purchased it, and I got the last replacement filter!) He told me it was the fraction of the cost of the Dyson, but worked just as well. I really liked the simplicity of it, and the fact that the cord retracts. This was brilliant because that's the part I hate most about vacuuming - wrapping up the darn cord! Well, it's an 'OK' vacuum - head doesn't raise or lower for the plush style of carpet you have. The suction is 'alright', but I had to empty the canister and shake out the filter to improve suction 1/2 through vacuuming my tiny apartment. I never had to do that with my Phantom vacuum, so this never occurred to me. I probably wish I had spent the extra $200 for the Dyson - so my review is - you get what you pay for.

Worst ever
by mssasha ,Dec 30 '07
Pros: Retractable cord Cons: Filter clogs quickly, then suction is gone
Hard to push & maneuver
Has very good suction initially, but only if filter is cleaned after only about 3-4 minutes of use. The front of the vacuum kicks up and will not maintain contact with the floor. I have to repeatedly push it back down with my foot. I've fought it for a year, but have had enough and have replaced it. Huge waste of money.

Bad Buy Don't Buy A Vax
by maggyu7 ,Dec 29 '07
Pros: Foot control for retractable cord only good thing Cons: No Suction, better to buy a dyson.
What a marketing scheme....They said better suction than Dyson. Don't believe it! It was worthless! We took the vacuum cleaner back to the store less than 2 weeks after we had it. I call It junk. We bought a dyson and no comparison.

VAX X3 vacuum - horrible
by boughtabadvax ,Jun 25 '06
Pros: cute colors Cons: simply a bad design
The VAX X3 is the worst vacuum I have ever used. It loses suction from the second its turned on, the filter becomes clogged. Only if I empty the vacuum twice per room, and clean the filters after every use, which is a very messy task, it will then give a barely adequate clean. It requires too much effort and concentration just to keep the vac in contact with the floor. A BEST BUY salesperson talked me into this purchase. I went for it based on the priced and strength of the motor. I really feel like I should have not been cheap, and bought the Dyson I left the house for. My previous vac was a $50 Hoover which worked 10 times better. I used to enjoy vacuuming, I dread it now.

Loses suction in half a room
by rcltrh ,Nov 22 '06
Pros: Looks nice, strong motor, strong beater brush Cons: Loses suction faster than any I have ever used
This vacuum cleaner has excellent suction for about 3 minutes, then it stops up completely and you have to take it apart and clean the HEPA filter - over and over and over. Takes forever to clean the house. I should have bought the Dyson like I originally wanted.
