I choose most of the hardware used in my family. When my dad wanted his own computer a few years ago, I selected and bought him a Mac, a laser printer, a scanner, and a monitor. He was happy with them all, but the monitor showed signs of death a few...
Pros: Big screen Cons: Heavy, Blurry and dark picture!
Well let me tell you about my experience with this monitor! We bought it when we were buying our computer about 3 years ago and wanted a bigger monitor than the one they were advertising in the package. We liked the 19"size and it was really clear on ...
Pros: Bright, sharp, good colors; AF90+ model has UltraBrite feature Cons: Distortion at the bottom edge of the image is annoying; not truly "flat"
I was recently looking into a new monitor to replace my aging Viewsonic G773. At the local computer store, I found the Viewsonic 19" flat A90F for about $200 (after $50 rebate). Set-up was quick and easy. After turning the PC on, and booting up, I found...
Pros: Strong and sturdy casing. Good clarity and detail. Cons: Bad geometry, horrible color reproduction, no advanced color adjustments.
My old pixie technologies 19inch crt monitor died out and I needed a monitor quick so I went to best buy and got the a90f+. First things I noticed that I wouldn't be able to live with was it's bad geometry and utterly horrible color reproduction. It ...
Pros: Sharp image reproduction, displays true deep black, handsome exterior. Cons: Bulky & heavy, reliability concerns, consumes lots of electricity.
I've owned two of these ViewSonic CRT monitors for over three years now so now I feel qualified to write a review. I bought one brand new from BestBuy for $249 and one used from a friend, it was a mid-price 19" monitor and the only one I seen at that ...
Pros: Great Color, Graphics, Longevity, Price, 3 year Warranty Cons: None
The Reason I bought this Monitor is because I had owned a Viewsonic Monitor that lasted me over 5 years before it blew. So when I went to look for a new monitor I compared a lot of them, and Viewsonic offers the best prices, plus they are the only...
Pros: Affordable, UltraBrite mode is good for watching DVD's Cons: distortion, flickering, Not true flat screen, Vertical settings get wacked
OK good news first. This is an affordable 19 monitor and the UltraBrite feature is really nice. I havent seen any other monitor with this feature. The only application I could foresee using the UltraBrite Mode is to watch DVDs. The brigh ...
Pros: Great price, large display, crisp images Cons: Size (but it's a CRT) and image size adjusting
I was really excited when I got this 19" CRT monitor. I'd upgraded from a smaller 17" and, I just love the larger sized screen.
Colors and images on the screen are sharp and clear, and I like the two lighting modes which allow you to adjust for different needs such as writing or gaming. Touch button and on-screen controls are fairly simple and easy to follow.
My only compliant with this is that it is difficult to adjust the on-screen picture area to fit the size of the screen itself. I always end up with some black edges which I just cant stretch the picture to fit. But other than that, this is a great value for a CRT monitor.
Best CRT Monitor I've Ever Owned! by nightwolf001 ,Jan 30 '05
Pros: Price, outstanding clarity, good brightness, outstanding color reproduction Cons: Bulky - which is expected of 19" CRT monitor
I bought this monitor because I didn't feel like upgrading to LCD just yet. I had intended to buy the Viewsonic G90, but this was the only Viewsonic they had at the store. It has an excellent picture. Text is crisp and sharp. Colors are outstanding. It has an Ultrabrite mode, for video and games, but I don't use it because it's not needed. In ultrabrite mode, text seems to go out of focus. The screen is already more than adequately bright anyway.
This model does not need to be degaussed as much as other brands that I've worked with or owned.
Easily the best CRT monitor I've ever worked on or owned.
Update: 10 Feb 2005 - The display "shrinks" when first turned on or after coming on from the screen saver. If you're adjusting your display to fill the entire screen, do it after a few minutes after turning it on. When the display returns from being turned off, you will notice that the display does not fit the screen, then you will will actually see the screen begin to shrink to the settings that saved it at.
Pros: Bright, crisp image quality, affordable Cons: Heavy and big
This is my second ViewSonic monitor. I bought the first one, also a 19", in 1996 for $1500.00 (it lasted for nine years!), the new A90f was only $247.00. I'm a graphic artist so monitor quality important to me and this monitor looks and works great. I own my own business so affordability is important too. I like the compatibility with my Mac and my graphics programs color calibration functions, I can be assured that what I see on the screen is what I'll see when my work comes back from the litho printer.
Worst thing I've ever bought by tneiderer ,Apr 17 '05
Pros: It's cheap. Cons: Horrible Tech Support and way too bulky.
I bought this monitor from Best Buy because most of my friends had it and it works great for them. I brought it home and 3 weeks later it begins to flicker like no other. I send it to Viewsonic where they decide to just look at it and send it back saying there was nothing wrong with it. I send it back again, and they say they tried to repair it but won't tell me what they've "fixed". I plug it in and it still flickers. I send it back for a replacement and when I receive my replacement this one doesn't even work. It turns itself on and off over and over again. I call viewsonic again. They tell me they'll replace this one. At the moment, I'm waiting on my replacement for my replacement. I also just ordered a Sony 19" and I'm selling this replacement to someone else.
Not so UltraBrite a choice in 2005 by gav6791 ,Dec 24 '04
Pros: Good sharpness @ 1024x768, Ultrabrite mode. Cons: Very large and heavy, screen dips in center.
Looking for a 19" CRT to clutter up your desktop? Viewsonic's A90f+ may be worth considering.
Sharpness is very good. Not quite as good as my 17" Sony.
On screen controls for: Contrast/Brightness, H-size/ position, V-size/position, zoom, pincushion, trapezoid/parallelogram, rotation, viewmatch color, degauss, moire pattern, and 5 languages.
Contrast is passable, as is color saturation. Ultrabrite mode can cause focus problems/loss of sharpness. Screen dips slightly at the center like drapery. No adjustment for this.
Pros: Beautiful looking, affordable, great picture, fabulous for gaming Cons: None other then the weight
This would be a great monitor purchase for just about anyone. To begin with it's very reasonably priced. It is a beautiful looking monitor especially in silver and black. The UltraBrite mode is a must for anyone who has ever suffered from the spectre of dark games. The picture is crisp and clear. The flat screen helps cut down on glare while supplying a larger viewing area
Pros: Sharp and bright when new only. Cons: Goes dark and blurry after a relatively short time.
When it was new it was great. Very sharp and bright. Suddenly after about 2 years it went darker than it was. I never even left it on all the time. Pictures are now too dark to see.
