Pros: Interactive fun, many activities to choose from Cons: Addicting! You will want to buy more, time-sucking website, another stuffed toy?
I'd been hearing about Webkinz for several months and resisted. I'd heard tales of friends going on a hunt to find certain ones and seen the signs at the stores saying "limit 2 Webkinz per person". Honestly, this had beanie baby written all over it and I ...
Pros: Cute, fun, imaginative (and educational) play for children. Cons: Addictive, addictive, addictive.... and, did I mention, addictive !!
Webkinz.... An adorable, fun, imaginative website where children can play, as well as learn a little about responsibility ?..... or a sadistic ploy to addict parents everywhere ?!?!?!? You be the judge !! Webkinz are the newest rage, sweeping through ...
Pros: Safe for kids who like to play on the computer. Cons: Not expensive initially, but when they keep wanting "just one more" it can get expensive.
First, let me tell you what a "Webkinz" is. It is made by Ganz and first came out in April of 2005. They are similar to the Ty Beanie Babies, only in my opinion a lot better. They are not just a stuffed animal. They are interactive pets that have ...
Pros: Wide age range from young child to adult. Adding and subtracting skills are used. Cons: "Exclusive Items" can only be obtained by having 10,15 and so on Webkinz.
O.k. I am completely addicted to my kids Webkinz. I admit it. There it's out there. Every morning my kids go off to school and I spin the "WHEEL of WOW".With hopes that I will win a great prize to surprise my kids with afterschool. I really hope I ...
Pros: cute, fun, somewhat educational Cons: more stuffed animals in the house, addicting
Webkinz are the big rage in our area right now. I assume that they are popular in other areas as well. My daughter got her first Webkinz as a surprise from her father and at the time, neither of them even knew what it did. They just thought it was a ...
Pros: Cute, fun games and activities, you can decorate and build rooms. Cons: Huge time-suck; encourages kids to buy, buy, buy.
When I moved to Seattle a few months ago, I didn't have many friends here. So the solution seemed obvious: I would buy myself some friends. Specifically, I would buy myself a Webkinz, a furry and lovable plush toy that came with a one-year membership ...
Pros: fun, addictive, plenty to do and see Cons: addictive! Yet another stuffed animal?
I had heard a lot about Webkinz here and there, but it was just recently when my own children started getting into them, and I must say I am completely addicted to their website now, and I am so glad we got into them because we are having fun. What’s ...
Pros: Teaches kids how to take care of things and its fun!! Cons: The website takes a while to download
When my 8 year old daughter told me that her friends had webkinz I had no idea what she was talking about. She showed me her friends webkins dog and I thought Oh what a cute toy. Then we went to a boutique to get one where her friend purchased it and ...
Pros: This website is awesome for both children and their parents. Cons: Some of the special activities are going on during bedtime hours.
My seven and three year old daughters received webkinz as a gift from their Aunt. The animals are absolutely adorable. They come with a code which you need to join the community and become a member. So when you purchase a webkinz, make sure the tag ...
Pros: Teaches money skills. Safe place online for kids. Cons: Expires after one year.
Kids want to get online just like the adults or older siblings. This toy/experience gives kids just what they want. Parents have the knowledge that kids are safe at this incredible site. Fun, fun fun! This items is all the rage here in Midwest. ...
Pros: Fun, inexpensive, learning tools, cute Cons: hard to find, some store are price gouging
Webkinz are wonderful! Webkinz are out of this world! I have an 8 year old daughter who fell in love with Webkinz about 4 moths ago and the love is growing every day. Here's the scoop on the hot new trend in toys for the 4-14 set(and ...
Pros: cute stuffed animal Cons: computer glitches can eliminate participation with the online site
Beanie babies, Pokemon, etc...now Webkinz. The kids just HAVE to have it. Parents stand in lines to get one. What is it? It's a stuffed animal with a password to a website allowing simple games. Don't we all already have far superior games such as ...
Pros: Website appears safe; conversations consist of pre-written phrases, children can't exchange personal information. Cons: Manufacturer refuses to replace lost "Secret" codes. Period. Customer Service rating is an F-.
The Webkinz concept is kind of cool and the little toys are cute. Kids love them. Children use a "secret" code and go online to "adopt" their new pet. They give it a name. They can socialize with their friends (if they know their friend's Pet's names). ...
Pros: Cute toy Cons: Everything else! Their customer service is worthless. Totally useless and frustrating!
I bought this for my daughter for Christmas. She was so excited, but when we tried to adopt it on the website there were technical problems and she was unable to do so. Then when we tried again it said her secret code was already used! The only way to ...
Pros: Educational, fun Cons: Artificially created market that drives up prices. Unconscionable when dealing with children.
1) Kinz Chat + is NOT the safe happy world that Ganz suggested it was. Once again it has been closed because people have been very easily getting past the word restrictions to share information, as well as talk dirty to each other. I'm not saying it should be closed, nor am I hoping it'll be reopened. I just think Ganz shouldn't give parents a false sense of security because many of my fellow adults are not that savvy when it comes to things like this.
2) The fact that "Love puppy" costs about 90 dollars is ridiculous. Ganz - make more of each animal, and don't retire them. Come on. This is kids we're talking about. Why does this have to become some horrid beanie-baby-esque artificially created market. Webkinz specifically were targeted at children, especially with the nifty virtual world idea. You can still make good $ by selling them at reasonable prices (i.e. having enough to sell).
Pros: They are soft, virtual, and AWESOME!!! Cons: You have to keep track of a virtual code and pets get retired easily.
I have heard from another review that the manufactures "refused" to give back another secret/virtual code after they lost it.
Well, Webkinz SPECIFICALLY state, that if you loose it then you will have to deal with not being able to go online! They rated it a 1 star, 1 STAR!!! Only becasue THEY lost it! I think that is ridiculous!
Well, anyway Webkinz are the most fun my family has had in YEARS! They are adorable, soft, fun, creative pets. In other reviews they say it freezes up online. It freezes up online very rarely even if you have a really slow computer. They make it perfectly safe and kid-friendly and adults enjoy it too!!!
Pros: cute, addictive, fun to play with, love the different animals Cons: you can not find in stores pets, site does not work and it freezes
My kids love their Webkinz. They are the proud parents of 4 Webkinz a piece. However, we are finding it hard to load Webkinz world. Your subscription is only good for 1 year and they are not betting to play in Webkinz world hardly at all. The screen always pops up that their(Webkinz world) server is down. I think that it is unfair for the children to be losing time when it is the companies fault that the kids can not get on. You can not contact Ganz about their sever problems because you can not log in and the you still can not really contact a person.
Pros: Totally Awesome! I would recommend this to anyone who has children ages 5 . Cons: Other than the only cost is that of a stuffed animal there is NO downside!
Finally, a safe website for children where they can learn and play at the same time. Webkinz world is safe from predators as children cannot give out personal information. Adopt your pet, create rooms in its home, visit the employment office daily for a job to earn webkinz cash, play a tournament with another Webkinz member, go on a gem hunt, take the educational quizzes (very educational!). Children learn to earn and manage money (Webkinz cash), be responsible for another as their pet needs love, food and attention. Even some of us grown-ups enjoy the site! Grandparents who live out of town can adopt a pet and log on to play checkers and other games with their grandchildren.
My grand daughters now have 6 webkinz. They love the website, they love playing games to earn points to take care of their webkinz.
The problem is the tech problems with the site. It is off line to much. You get 1 year to care for your pet. I highly doubt that Ganz is going to refund the time not being able to be online at their site.
It's hard to teach a child responsibilities-(ex) clean your room then play online for 1/2 hour. They go to take care and play with webkinz and can't log on to the site. After 3/4 times of this they get discouraged and you are out the $12.95 you paid for a plush toy not worth $12.95 by itself
They have a bran new computer-windows vista so it isn't their computer.
Pros: Fun Cons: customer support, getting on the website
Sure they are cute and all kids love them. But it is so popular the website is overloaded and alot of people including me are having problems with registering online, and you have to wait2-5 day for customer service call or email to tell you they are having loads of techinal diffculty but should be fixed soon, when is soon? been almost a month now?
Fun for kids and adults but... by girlzmom ,Dec 05 '07
Pros: Cute animals.Safe online world.Great price.Fun. Cons: The website is always going down making it frustrating to play games.
Too many tech problems. Cute animals. Safe online world. Great concept of an employment office, a school, earning and spending kinz cash, tournaments, decorating rooms, caring for animals. Love being able to visit each others house and play games. Very addicting at first. Goes offline at 11PM for West Coast though. Games are very fun but too hard for younger kids. Love the mining and charms. The site seems to be having technical difficulties more now than when we started. It goes down way too much...my kids are starting to find other online worlds that don't require a purchase and are always ready to play. Our stuffed animal came apart at the seams with normal use within a short time. I was able to sew it. Can only do some things once a day which my 5 year old wishes she could play more of. Love the seasonal items and the interactive items. Great toy for the price. Definitely worth the purchase. I hope they fix the tech problems though.
