When Squealing the Tires Is Not Fun.

by bettega , Jan 30 '07
Pros: Quiet, safe and progressive loss of traction in hard cornering.
Cons: Premature and uneven wear, sluggish response, inadequate grip especially in wet, braking, handling, EXPEN$IVE!
I write this review for the Yohohama Geolandar H/T G-900 tires with a heavy heart and leaden bow. They came stock with my 2004 Subaru Forester 2.5 XT and wore out after 25,000 miles. When they wore out prematurely and unevenly, I needed to get another ...

Scary moments at first

by criteeker Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, Mar 10 '07
Pros: Quiet on pavement
Cons: had a blowout within 3 weeks
These replaced the stock Michelin tires on my GMC Envoy. I was surprised to see that my Michelin tires were worn out so quickly. We're talking 32,000 miles! The stock tires were 245/65R17 and the guy at America's Tire Store recommended the Yokohama ...

Nice ride and good traction at a reasonable price

by backwoodsbum , Feb 14 '07
Pros: Ride quality, relatively low price, on-road traction
Cons: Off-road traction (which is not what this tire is designed for)
Last fall my girlfriend asked me to recommend some new tires for her Dodge Dakota. Both the original set and the tires she had replaced them with had worn out much sooner than she had liked and the combination of a V-8 engine in a truck with little ...

Are tires just tires?

by bbabiuk , Sep 20 '04
Pros: Great handling, traction, very quiet, very affordable.
Cons: Poor distribution network.
First off, my review covers the Yokohama H/T-S tires. I found myself in the market for new tires again. It had been about 6 years on my "store brand" tires, and after 6 agonizing years of poor traction, hydro-planing, and poor winter traction, I knew ...

Quiet!! Plus great traction!

by gunner69 , Jun 16 '03
Pros: Excellent wet traction, quiet, good ride
Cons: Can't always find them.
I have 235-75-15XL on my GMC Savannah Starcraft full size conversion van. I had American Generals, that were very worn out after just 30,000 miles. Traction on wet roads and snow was horrible. I had read about Yokohama's in magazines, and on a web ...

So far, so good...

by preedy , May 07 '04
Pros: Quiet! Performance better than other comparably-priced tires.
Cons: Rather unusual decorative pattern on the sidewall
I have only 700 miles on a new set of Geolander H/T-S G051 tires, so these are initial impressions only. These tires replaced a set of OEM Bridgestone Dueler 684's on a Honda Pilot. The Duelers functioned ok, but were very noisy and not very ...

you could do worse, you could do better....

by ncsuprof , May 04 '07
Pros: good price, great early-life tires
Cons: they don't age particularly well
My Geolandar HTs were purchased about 4 years ago as replacements (on a Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd. V8 4x4) for the OEM Goodyears with which my vehicle came. After dealing with those original tires for about 35,000 miles and watching the tread disappear ...

Find a better tire.

by mjwchart , Aug 21 '03
Pros: Good on wet pavement. Tires started out nice and quiet.
Cons: Terrible in snow.
Definitely, not the tire for snow or the long haul. If you are in snow country and do not have four ...

Great Tire

by smixon8101 , Mar 22 '07
Pros: Price-Quiet Drive-Handling-Even Tread Wear.
Cons: They pick up small rocks.
My Wife and I recently bought a 2005 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. The Good Year GS-A tires that were on it were worn out and rightly so since they had about 52,000 miles on them. I told the dealership that if they wanted to put new tires on the jeep then I ...

Good Tire at a Good Price

by nine11c2 , Dec 07 '04
Pros: Good handling, good rain, good traction.
Cons: Only available in white letter in my size. Lot of weight to balance.
I've been two sets of tires on my 2001 Pathfinder, the cheap first one's (Toyo's, virtually passenger car tires) and the expensive second one's (Pirelli ST). It seems that no matter what I do, after 35-40,000 of highway driving above the speed limit, ...

Yokohama Geolandar h/t 255/70R16

by puffnstuff , Dec 14 '00
Pros: quiet, rugged construction, water channeling tread design
Cons: Limited dealer network
I bought this tire after searching through many manufacturers tire catalogs looking for a truck tire with an open tread. I was impressed by the construction of the yokohama and had already heard good things about them so I added them to my list of tires...

Best tires ever owned!
by pr93010 ,Jan 24 '04
Pros: Super-quiet, great cornering, awesome ride quality, great traction.
Cons: None for what I'e got them for...
Those things are SO Q-U-I-E-T!!! You'll want to check your hearing after installing them. I've replaced my Dunlops with it and was happy from the "mile one". Just got back from the "white X-Mas" trip to Lake Tahoe and got some "experience". I'd say that they are not bad in the snow; it's a black ice that scarried a heck out of us. But nothing you can do unless you have a spiked or pure SNOW tires or chains (despite AWD).
My G501 have a great cornering, awesome ride quality, super quiet, great traction.
Get it, you won't regret! But remember, there is NO IDEAL TIRE: if you driving in the snow often, then get a PURE SNOW tires and use a chains on the black ice. For every day and vacational off-roading there are no better tires than Yokohama Geolandar H/T-S G501 (or its family).

Yokohama Geolandar on a Pontiac Aztek
by sdcmex ,Aug 26 '06
Pros: Long wear, good in rain and wet surfaces, strong sidewalls
Cons: Not good on dirt roads, mud or snow
I bought these tires about 50 thousand miles ago. They are wearing good, it gave the Aztek more stability in cornering and perform well on wet pavement and heavy rain. They tend to be noisy on concrete pavement and other rock based tar sufaces. I have found that they tend to float on dirt road surfaces, mud, and snow. I would not recommend them for dirt, mud or snow. They have a good strong sidewall. I think that they have about 20 thousand miles left on them. I will not purchase them again though, I will upgrade to a meatier tire such as Goodyear Wrangler with deeper and spread out tread.

Best Bang for your Buck!
by simon_canada ,Oct 15 '07
Pros: Price, Performance, Quiet, wet & dry traction
Cons: None really - but do realize these are not offroad tires!
I purchased a set of Geolander H/T-S for my Toyota Highlander, and have been very impressed with them from day one. Very good traction in wet and dry conditions, and they did not overly affect the fuel economy from the stock Integrity's (which are really car tires - and should not be on the highlander!).

I can't say much for long-life, as I have only had them for 8 months, and only used them during three seasons, and do not plan on using them in the winter (will go with a proper ice/snow tire).

Great overall tire, look good, perform even better.

Not meant for anything beyond city driving, and the dirt road to your cottage. Don't try taking these off-road.
