Pros: Still better than any new Japanese or American "Luxury" car. Fast, quiet, reliable Cons: IF it isn't maintained, it'll cost u an arm and a leg to fix it. The Bottom Line: There is NO better way to spend $10k. Reliable, fast, quiet, roomy, and it's a Mercedes. Could you possibly ask for more?
My experience is limited to the 560SEL that I have been driving with my learner's permit, and which will probably be my first car here in the next few weeks.
This is one of the last cars that Mercedes made before they had to compete with the...

Pros: Well engineered.
Ergonomic
Good economy when driven gently
Timeless elegant appearance.
Eminently capable highway cruiser Cons: Pathetic headlamps.
Can be very expensive to repair.
Thirsty if driven hard.
Premium fuel. The Bottom Line: A great car but not for all. German cars require more maintenance, repair is expensive if maintenance is neglected.
A good Mercedes mechanic should do thorough PPI before you buy.
I needed a daily driver. I used to be an apprentice mechanic at a Mercedes shop in another life. I initially wanted the smaller 190E but realised that the 300E was in my price range so I started reading up on them. I found a few cars that had tell tale ...

Pros: Lots of room, Looks great, well designed, and well built. Cons: Like any car, if you don't maintain them be prepared to Invest some money. The Bottom Line: I would buy many more of these, but Mercedes-Benz have other cars that are just as good such as the 1984 300CD Turbo Diesel.
I got a deal when I bought this car. When you first see this car your mind gets blown away by it's elegant style. This car to this day is still used in many countries by kings and dictators. I look forward to driving this car every time I wake up or...

Pros: Solid, great gas mileage, cheap to keep. Cons: Radio is a bit basic. Nothing else at all.
I bought my 300E in September 1990 - the car market was depressed and I could get a pretty good deal on the car as a result. It was the first Mercedes I had owned; my Dad had had a few in his time and they had proved comfortable and reliable vehicles,...

Mercedes, ahhhh luxury at its best. I have now learned that the Mercedes has always been ahead of its time. This car is wonderful in numerous ways, such as, control, comfort, and just a heck of a car to drive. I personally recommend buying one, if you...

Pros: Solid as a tank, supreme long distance driver, bulletproof reliability Cons: Transmission, climate controls, land yacht dynamics
The 1980-1991 S-Class sedans defined the image for what most people probably think of when they hear the word "Mercedes". This generation of S-Class made its merits on bank vault-like solidity (a popular showroom demonstration was to slam the...

Pros: Quality, Reliability, Comfort, ITS A MERCEDES BENZ!!! Cons: Gas milage is ok but could be better. The Bottom Line: This is a great car and at an exceptional price too good to pass up!
I was 15 when I bought this car from my boss who I worked for during the summer and on weekends. These cars depriciate in value so much over the years that even I could afford to buy one. All of my classmates envy it which is cool. When people see a kid...

Pros: Build like a Tiger tank, tons of cachet, absolutely gorgeous to look at. Cons: MB dealers are total snobs, makes you want to invade neighbouring countries. The Bottom Line: True luxury and craftsmanship of the old school. Just be careful when you buy one and MAINTAIN IT!
In my review of my Cutlass Ciera, I mentioned that the high rollers in my company had all bought BMWs. I too decided on some "new" wheels and went looking for my dream car, a 1990 Merceedes Benz 560SEL. If you are buying a Merc, you have to obey a ...

To make such a statement would open one up to the ridicule of all those heavily invested in the latest crop of Lexus, BMW, or even today Mercedes offerings. But the fact remain, borne out by any knowledgeable mechanic, that these cars remain a driving...

Pros: It's a Mercedes!! Cons: No heat when stopped.
No heat when temp is between 30 and 50 F. The Bottom Line: The Mercedes is the epitome of luxury. However, the only way to purchase these used is to bring a KNOWLEDGEABLE mechanic. Know your seller!!
I bought this car one year ago used from a Chevy dealer. There were several minor things wrong with the car when I bought it: Fan (serpentine) belt needed replacement; right headlight lens was cracked (replaced from wrecked 300E) ; the cruise control was ...

Pros: Powerful engine, safe as a tank, reliable, fast
Cons: Repairs are too costly
I bought this car back in 1990 brand new. They don't make cars like this anymore, even the new S-Class. You really get what you pay for, and the base price of $62000 was worth it! I have had only about two problems with it; one is the radiator broke which cost me a lot of money, and the other is the rear right window. It broke, and can only be lowered, but not raised. Otherwise, these cars were built like tanks and still work well. For over 15 years, I could take on the highway at 90 mph for at least two hours and it wouldn't mind. The engines were also very powerful and were built to go on the autobahn for six hours at a time. The salesperson took me on the highway one day before I bought it and just floored it, and it moved faster than any sportscar (taking weight into consideration). I would never sell it and want to keep it for as long as I can!
