Pros: dependable, safe and versatile Cons: none The Bottom Line: I can not imagine a better family vehicle.
When we moved here in early '98 we were at the point where we needed to purchase a new vehicle. This time we didn't have to purchase based on finances, although the cost certainly was an important factor. This was going to be a major purchase and ...

Pros: Comfortable, easy to find parts for, neat digital dash, decent pep and gas mileage Cons: Rust out, power steering pump, MAF sensor, hard to work on, stock wheels, cheap bumpers The Bottom Line: The only reason I don't recommend this vehicle is it would be a nightmare for anyone who isn't handy, I'm about average. She's been running good for me though

Our big search for a larger vehicle started when I found out I was expecting another child. At the time, I was driving an old Volkswagon Bug and I had two children already.
We looked at quite a few brands. The only one I didn't feel...

Pros: Seats, Feel of the van, durablity Cons: Weak brakes, Small tires, Hevay and Hard to remove seats The Bottom Line: This van has been rather enjoyable to own and drive, and for the overall price I paid new and relablity, these are darn good buys
It was almost a year after andrew blew though south florida, changing our lives, along with so many others forever. We lost a number of our vehicles during the storm, so in March of 93, I went shopping and bought an Aerostar, because of price, power and ...

We owned a 1993 aerostar for over six years. We bought it new and sold it in 1999 with 88,000 miles on it.
We bought it because we were planning yearly vacation/educational trips with children and friends and thought it would be an excellent...

Pros: handles well. tons of space! Cons: rear window washer fluid is hard to refill!
I was not a mini van type! I did not want a mini van. Our friends bought an Aerostar. They raved about it.
Then my husband's vehicle was totaled by a drunk driver. We were suddenly in the market for a new to us vehicle. He convinced me...

Pros: sturdy ride, nice style, good sound system Cons: rear wheel drive
At 21 I really didn't want a "mini-van" but when we stumbled across our beautiful used Ford Aerostar (Sport Edition) I knew it was the right car for us. As new parents our focus was on safety and stability, as a band member my husband was also...

Pros: Small Footprint, driving position Cons: reliability, ease of servicing The Bottom Line: If you own a farm and need a place for your leghorns AND they aren't too picky, then this is the van for you.
I bought this van in 1996 with 65K on it, kept it until 2002 and 153K. The transmission blew 61 days after purchase (guess how long it was guarranteed for?) to the tune of $1300 bucks. Then followed a long string of failures; cooling system, A/C,...

Pros: Roomy, easy to fix Cons: Requires lots of fixing The Bottom Line: Avoid this van at all costs. Mine hasn't even had the famous transmission problems but everything else is falling apart.
I bought this 1993 last year from a friend who purchased it new. It is almost 10 years old and is absolutely falling apart at this point. The heads have been replaced twice in its lifetime and I now have some knocking from one side, though I don't...

Pros: COMFORTABLE AND DEPENDABLE Cons: EATS POWER STEERING PUMPS, SIDE DOOR TROUBLES The Bottom Line: For the price this van can't be beat for dependability.
I purchased my Aerostar in 1996 from a rental company that was going out of business. At the time it only had 30,000 miles and was still in mint condition.
I initially selected this vechical because in my group of friends we frequently...

Pros: The spacious interior, beefy 4.0 L motor and the AWD Cons: Hard to get at motor The Bottom Line: Definately take this one for a test drive. The handling, spacious interior and beefy motor make it #1 in it's class in my books.
I bought a 1993 Ford Aerostar with 4.0L motor and AWD. Let me tell you that this is one of the finest units that I have owned to date. The spacious interior and nice smooth ride are yet to be rivalled in my opinion (in a model of that year). The 4.0L...

Pros: lot of room, comfortable seats, rear air and heat Cons: loose interior pieces, rattling in back The Bottom Line: Even though it looks ugly on the outside, it is a quality minivan with a great interior.
We rented a 1994 Ford Aerostar Eddie Bauer edition. I hated the outside of it. In my opinion, it was ugly! The interior featured leather seats, 1st and 2nd row buckets, and a digital dashboard. The digital dashboard included an information center,...

Pros: Like driving a 4 star hotel that handles well. Cons: Let me get back to you on this one when I find a con. The Bottom Line: Ford messed up when they stop building Aerorstars. If you can find an owner willing to depart with theirs, buy it!
Don't let the Aerostar's boxy exterior fool you. Once you open a door to this vehicle, it's like entering another world. The world of comfort, reliability and peace and quiet.
The kids climb in the back of the vehicle, have their own a/c and...

Pros: Low maintenace, good gas mileage, durable Cons: power steering pump, plugs hard to replace, foggy headlight assembly.
I have driven a 1993 Aerostar for the last 6yrs as a work van. It's a cargo van so I guess I don't have the problems with panels considering it has none. We keep the vehicle serviced religiously and it has rewarded us with 315k miles and still runs strong, the ac works fine and it burns about a 1/2 quart of oil every 3k. It is starting to run hot in warmer weather but this just started happening at 312k miles. We decided just to drive it as a local errand vehicle and retire it at the end spring. We have a fleet of 25 vans, 5 were aerostars and they have outlasted the chevy, gmc and dodge vans.
