Pros: Reliable for 8 years, roomy and comfortable. Cons: Electrical problems, very unsightly shape by today's standards.
We had our Camry for 8 years without too many major problems, and thought it would last a long time. Until in 2001, it sprouted an electrical problem out of the blue and caught on fire. Thank god no one was in the car at the time, it was sitting in a parking lot. But we never expected this to happen to the Camry, especially without hardly any warning. If you have a Camry, it might be wise to have the electrical lines checked frequently, just so the same thing doesn't happen to you.

Pros: Reliable engine, great fuel efficiency, sweet design, very functional dash and relatively high resale value Cons: Not luxurious like a Cressida/Avalon. Some generations of Camry are ugly (e.g. 1989-1991, 2002-2005)
This car is really worth every penny. I have 3 used Camry's in the family. One of 'em is a 1993 Camry LE.
In the harsh winters and hot summers here in Canada, most people look for reliability. This car delivers.
Make sure you keep up with routine maintenance, brake pad replacement, timing belt changes (every 5 years), this car will not fail you.
The Japanese know what they do and do it well.

Pros: good suspension, reliability, smooth shifting 5 speed tranny Cons: road noise , steering could be a bit more responsive
I bought this car when it had 260,000 on the clock. Since i have driven it for 9000 kms ( ive owned it for only 2 months) Ive averaged 8.5l/100km (we use metric in canada). this car has amazed me. Honestly, i was looking for a big car that could take on the highway wind..you know when you pull up to a big rig and if ur in a smaller car u get pushed all over the place with wind turbulance. As with my camry, Ive faced very little of that. Its a 4 cylinder 5 speed. I put the car on cruise at 140km/r (roughly 85 mph) and the car performs without a sweat. i sometimes wonder why people would even go for the 6 banger. the ride is smooth and the a/c works beautifully. I definately see this car running to half a million kms no problem! I paid less than 3 grand for this car and i think its the deal of the century!

Pros: Easy to sell, built well. Cons: styling, handling, radio, dime a dozen
I had a v6 sport LE with a 5spd. It was ok I just don't see what all the hype is with these cars I thought my 92 maxima was just as fast with a automatic and better looking and leaked less. This was about the best driving camry of this body style I have ever drove , I don't know if it was because of the sport package or what. Most of these I have driven feel unsafe at high speeds and turning on freeway. I am a tech and have driven and repaired thousands of cars, thats how I got this one so cheap this bullet proof car needed head gaskets. I repaired it and sold it for 2,700. All in all they are good cars I think they are a good choice if you just want something to drive but if you are looking for something to enjoy this car was just boring. If working on cars has taught me anything it is that just about and car can go 200,000 miles if you just take the time to maintain them. I think that toyota's reputation is mostly from it's ability to take neglect and abuse.

Pros: Gas mileage, reliability, smoothness, quietness, very comfortable. Cons: Spongy steering, not built to dash in and out of traffic or sharp turns.
I've had my 1993 Camry LE 4cyl for three years now. It currently has 256,000 miles on it and still perform's flawlessly. It does have a small oil leak but its so miniscule that it never requires me to keep adding oil. Its still on its original engine and transmission and I wouldnt hesitate to drive it anywhere. I use it to drive back and forth from NY to FLA all the time and it never gives me any problems. I do have a 2005 Altima but honestly, I love driving my Camry. Its not the fastest car on the market, but it is by far the most smooth and quiet driving car that I've ever owned. I got rear-ended by a cab a few months back and the cab ended up going underneath my Camry and lifting it so far in the air, the front bumper was touching the ground. Absolutely nothing happened to my car except for a bent tailpipe and scuffs and scratches on the rear bumper. My Camry is a keeper for life. and I highly recommend it to anyone who's looking for a car !!

Best Car I Have Owned

Author's Product Rating:

Pros: Comfortable, Roomy, Plenty of power, gas mileage. Cons: None
I have a 1993 Toyota Camry that I bought new. I have to say, what a great car. Very well put together. After 12 years and 120,000 miles it still has the original transmission, Exhaust system, and radiator. The major repairs usually needed. Of course all of the regular maintanance done, like timing belt, oil changes and tune up, which I do mostly myself. Most of my life I have owned GM cars. But the 93 Camry exceeded my excpectations by far.
It soaks up bumps as if it was still brand new. The gas mileage is great for a V-6 and a peppy 185 horses make the car very smooth on the highway. Plus it is so quiet you can barely hear it running. Another thing is that it's very roomy and comfortable inside. Plenty of space and cargo room in the trunk. I can't say a bad thing about it to tell you the truth. I don't know how the newer Camry's are but I sure would find out if I needed to get a new car!!

Well, I put 220000 miles on the car until i crashed it last year, No problem with transmission at all, original transmission in 220000 miles. Compare with my brother's Mazda 626 ,which he replaced the transmission around 50000 miles and my mom's Mitz Galand ES overheat on the way to Las Vegas. Camry is the best deal, and I just bought a new camry for $19400 LE out the door(not sure if it's a good deal or not) but, camry is pretty reliable so i decieded to buy another one.

I had a 2001 maxima which got stolen but believe me! this car drives better than Nissan Maxima. Although I have nothing against Nissan Maxima it's how I feel. I own a 2005 Honda Accord it's nice but bit noisy on Highway.Camry rides far more better even though it's 13 years old.You barely hear any wind noise on Hwy.I strongly recommend this great car get one if you need a second winter car.
