Pros: It's inexpensive Cons: Not durable, fading paint, cramped, bumpy ride small trunk The Bottom Line: Spend your money elsewhere.
Many people are attracted to cars like the Kia Sephia due to their low prices, this car was typically $12,000-$14,000 brand new. But remember, you get what you pay for. The Kia Sephia is NOT a quality car. We have a 1997 Kia Sephia LS with only ...

Pros: Able to get out of massive loan Cons: Problems started around 55,000 miles
This is my second half to my Kia experience. I figured if I added this to the other one, it would end up being way too long. I suggest to read the first part before reading this one to get a sense of what's going on....
As I stated in the last...

Pros: Gas mileage, Price, A/C and Heater Cons: Unreliable, cheap materials, no options, weak engine
If money is your only criteria for choosing a car, this car will be top of your list. It certainly was top of my parent's list when they got this. For under $9000 they got a car that drives from point A to point B. But if only the car was a bit more...

Pros: Inexpensive, low mileage Cons: Flimsy construction, drives like a riding lawn mower, requires regular repair The Bottom Line: As a jalopy to toot around town, the Sephia is barely OK. It is NOT a sturdy workhorse. You'd be crazy to drive this car out of town.
Summary: The 1997 Kia is a cheap car: I bought mine for only $5500. But when you buy something on the cheap, you get product that's cheap, too: a flimsy, low-performance, high-maintenance vehicle.
Inexpensive, OK Mileage

Pros: Good price, roomy, nice ride, good gas mileage Cons: low resale, could have a problem getting parts
In November of 1997 my fiance and I purchased a Kia Sephia LS model. The number one reason we bought this car was because of the price. We got it for approximately $13,000. We had to find something in a lower price range because we had a $10,000...

Pros: a good first new car Cons: hearing this investment referred to as "throwaway"
In August of 1997, my beloved car completely DIED on me. I needed a new one. I had no credit, I had a job. I went to the nearest dealership I trusted, and began to walk around the lot. I was approached by someone I knew whom didn't work at the...

Pros: Good Price, Good Gas Mileage, Good Stereo System Cons: Noise, Noise, Noise
I was a poor college student.
I needed an affordable, but some-what reliable car.
I had terrible experience with Ford Escort during high-school.
So, Ford was out of option.
It was either Corolla, Tercel, Civic, Elantra, Sonata,...

Pros: Low Maintenance, Reliable, Sharp-looking Cons: It is a smaller car
A year or so ago, my husband switched jobs and in the process, was left without a vehicle, since his old company provided him a company car. We had to get a good reliable car quickly for him to use to commute to his new job. After all of the looking...

Pros: low price, nice looking, reliable, good mileage Cons: noisy
We bought our Kia Sephia almost 2 years ago and its a 1997 model. We initially were looking at much pricier cars and realized that it just wasn't in our budget. We did alot of research through of course...the internet and saw that the Sephia was very...

Pros: Comfy, powerful, good track record in Korea Cons: Bad automatic transmission
I bought my 1997 Sephia during the summer of that year. I have had no real problems. Service has always been fast, and always free. They even covered a loose battery connection under warranty.
(I had helped a friend to jump-start his car. The...

Pros: Hmmm... its not a golf kart? Cons: Slowness/horrible exterior lines/abscense of interior accsessories
Ahh.. now we come to the KIA sephia. Possibly the slowest most underpowered car in its class. Sure they cracked the 10k barrier for a new car. But what are you really putting your 10k on. This car has your basic golf kart acsessories. A radio....

Pros: Low cost nice ammenities Cons: It is a small car but not too small
I bought this car because I needed a vehicle I could drive the wheels off of. I owned a sports car that was killing me with maintenance costs and I wanted to park it. Once I bought the Kia Sephia LS, I parked my sports car but didn't have to trade it...

Pros: Nice ride, roomy interior, snappy
looks. Cons: Poor backing by Kia, White Peel in Paint
Warping Rotors, Extremely Poor Resale Value/Reliability.
The Bottom Line: Avoid this and all Kias, for that matter any Korean cars, they may be
tempting with low prices/long warranties, but poor reliability/resale.
When Kia finally made it to the east coast of the USA there advertising stated everybody
deserves an inexpensive well made car - anything could be further from the truth.
In March 1998 my wife and I were looking
for a car for her since her...
