Pros: Cheap to buy, fun to drive at first Cons: Car deteriorates rapidly, not really worth the time money or effort to maintain The Bottom Line: Fun to drive at first, but the fun wears off fast as the car deteriorates and becomes a chore to drive much too soon.
Yes, I owned two Neons. The other was a '98 Plymouth EX Coupe. My wife mostly drove the '99. The '98 Plymouth EX Coupe had a 5 speed transmission, factory alloy wheels, twin cam motor, tilt steering, and the six speaker cassette deck stereo. Since ...

Pros: Good acceleration; handling; styling Cons: No overdrive; less-than-advertised fuel economy
I bought my white 1998 Plymouth Neon Highline about two years ago. A rental return, the car had about 26,000 miles on it at the time, which seemed high to me. But it still seemed rather new and pristine, and it checked out with my mechanic, and the price...

Pros: Stylish, economical, relatively roomy, fun to drive Cons: Barely adequate engines, bad rep, not so hot in crash tests The Bottom Line: A good car car overall, if it hasn't been abused. Cute and perky styling, and economical are big selling points. A good second or third car.
I know, I know. It's a NEON. How could a lowly little econocar be considered fun and cool? I was surprised myself, but I swear it's true. This little car really
surprised me with the things it had, the way it was built, and the way it handled....

Pros: Inexpensive, stylish, good first time car Cons: I've had serious problems with it, repaired many times.
Ok this was my first NEW car. I really had my mind set on the Cavalier and I did not want a Neon. BUT... the Neon was about 2000-3000 dollars cheaper, seemed peppier to me, and it was cute. It completely won me over, so I bought a '98 Neon Expresso,...

Pros: Folding back seat for more cargo space, well placed cruise control. Cons: I smacked my knee on the tilt steering lever once, but that was because I forgot to put it back up.
We bought this car because it was in our price range, had 4 doors, and airbags. My last car was a '91 Ford Festiva, so when I saw on this page that the Neon is classified as a compact, I laughed.
When my husband and I had our baby, we knew...

Pros: cute look, affordable, roomy Cons: changed the body and color selection
Ever since I first saw the Neon in 1994 I knew I wanted one. At the time I was only 14 years old so I had a while to wait.
What initially attracted me to the Neon was its cute "bubbly" appearance, it had smooth curves. Also, the...

Pros: Excellent economy car Cons: None that I've found
I purchased my 1998 Neon in 1999 as a rental return. I was graduating from high school and was planning on attending college, four hours away, in the fall. I didn't care for the idea of being stuck there on weekends and holidays so I decided to fork over...

Pros: Affordable, reliable, good gas mileage Cons: Slightly cramped in back seat, poor on ice
The Neon isn't a luxury car - not by a long shot. If that's what you're looking for, look elsewhere. But if what you want is a reliable and somewhat room compact car at an affordable price, the Neon is one to consider.
The Neon could,...

Pros: Economic, comfortable, easy to drive, stylin'. Cons: Haven't found any yet.
First and foremost, my husband and I bought this vehicle because it was within the price range we wanted to pay ($12,000). At first site, we were very skeptical because we live in Alaska and must travel on dark, snowy, icy roads for many months in the...

Pros: cute car, nice colors, sporty, good gas mileage Cons: more room in a coffin
What would you expect if you had a Plymouth Neon? Perhaps a reliable, sporty car that looks good and hugs the road. You will get that much. Other than that, I think this piece of junk is highly overrated.
It plays on the 'I'm a cute car,...

Pros: Price, Decent Sized interior Cons: No Power, Very Unreliable, Engine Design is horrible The Bottom Line: Overall, the Plymouth Neon is one of the worst cars I have ever seen or driven surpassed only by the Suzuki Swift. I would defiantly STAY AWAY from this car!!!
The 1998 Plymouth Neon is by far one of the worst cars I have ever seen or driven. Luckily I don't own one, but unfortunately my girlfriend does (hers is a 1996 but nothing has changed). Before I get into the specs of the neon let me tell you a little...

Pros: More HP than comparable models, comfortable seats, abundant headroom Cons: Head gasket failures, mysterious freeway vibration, automatic only a 3speed, power windows on front only The Bottom Line: This is a good car for students or commuters. It has more personality than its import competition. Watch out for models with faulty head gaskets, however.
I bought this vehicle used with 38k miles under its belt, after my 95 Saturn turned into the spawn of the devil. Coming from that vehicle, I was pleased with most of the features the Neon had to offer, and a bit annoyed with a few of its anomalies as ...

Pros: Comfortable, reliable, good fuel economy Cons: Head gasket went out, could use slightly more horsepower, does not hold its value The Bottom Line: Great car, reliable and fuel efficient.
I bought this car brand new. In Jan 1, 2004 at 74,000 miles, it was totalled by an airhead driving 50 mph in a residential area. I loved this car and had planned to continue driving it for at least another five years. The only major problem I had with it ...

Pros: Cute body style Cons: Rapidly diminished in value and reliability. Terrible engine quality. The Bottom Line: I would not recommend this car to anyone. Too many problems for anyone to deal with.
Our equipment: 2-door Coupe Automatic transmission My first impression would be that this car was okay. At first it drove well, maintained decent fuel efficiency, handled well. I loved the look of the car and the marketing of this model of car was ...
