Pros: handling, economy, amenities
Cons: trunk & backseat room, quality-control The Bottom Line: The Grand Am is well-positioned for a new family who needs room for the kids but doesn't want to give up that sporty feel.
The folks at Pontiac have declaimed that "wider is better" for more than a generation now. Their "wide track Pontiac" slogan dates all the way back to the last days of the GTO, with today's Grand Am a direct descendant of that quintessential sixties...

Pros: Quick, comfy Cons: Not sure about the styling, common The Bottom Line: A bit of a wolf in sheep's clothing.
Just a brief explanation of the title: I had a Taurus before which I really disliked. This review is by way of showing I do not have a blinkered attitude about American cars.
This particular car was inherited from a departing engineer. Well,...

Pros: Stylish looks inside and out, roomy. Cons: Bad brake problem, faulty sensors, parts falling out. The Bottom Line: I wouldn't recommend this car because we have only had the car for about 1 year and have had multiple problems out of it.
My wife and I decided to get a new car. We had our first child on the way, and the car that we had at the time (1995 Hyundai Scoupe) was a little small for a family. So we decided to go car shopping. We had looked around a little, and decided to go to...

Pros: Ruggedness, Practicality, Roomy interior, VERY smooth ride, it really takes the abuse! Cons: Paint on the stock stereo buttons chip, 5mph bumper..haha, poor resale value. The Bottom Line: If you are a soccer mom, a college student, a lawyer, or a clown, this car fits into any situation, and any lifestyle, and it sure takes the abuse!
I come from a strictly GM family, my dad is a supervisor for GM, so was grandpa, the majority of my uncles, and even a few of my aunts all work for GM. I have to say that I am a huge GM fan, but I'll focus more on the vehicle at hand. My dad bought m ...

Pros: Looks, Price, V-6, GT model Cons: Warranty, Rear Seat Fold Down Mechanism The Bottom Line: A surprisingly sporty little car, especially in GT1 trim. Fun to drive and affordable, re-sale value is the main drawback.
Pontiac has been working hard to improve its cars. A weekend drive in a rented Sunfire reminds one of just how far they have to go. Sunfires not withstanding, new Pontiacs are indeed improving. The Bonneville is a worthy competitor in the mid-size...

Pros: Handling, power, stereo, and Gas mileage Cons: All electrical aspects of the vehicle. Monsoon stereo too powerful for such enclosed space. The Bottom Line: Would only recommend this car warrantied. Will never do with out again. Engine and Tranny reliable, just pull out all the wires and dash lights..you'll be fine!
I have had my Silver 2001 Grand Am GT for about 2 and half years now. I bought it used with 30 K on it. I really liked it when I test drove it and was tired of the power from the previous 4 cyl. engine cars that I have owned. After the first year, I ...

Pros: Handling, engine torque Cons: Cosmetics, internal and external, practical aspects The Bottom Line: A budget car focused on performance and handling dynamics, but certainly not on class and refinement.
Let's get the most subjective items out of the way: I dislike the Pontiac esthetics in general, and this one in particular, in and out. Plasticky, prentending and over the top. The grooved lines on the sides, the wing on the trunk, the two big globes on t ...

Pros: Great value; aggressive sporty appearance; power and precision; superior handling. Cons: Many minor malfunctions over the life span of the vehicle. The Bottom Line: I would approach this vehicle with caution. It's a great car, if only for a short time.
I LOVE PONTIAC. This is my 3rd Grand Am, the first being an 89, and the second being a 1993. With that said, this was my dream car, my first new car -- a black 2001 GT. It handles EXCELLENTLY. It is fun to drive because it hugs the road; it has the ...

Pros: PRICE. COMFORT. HANDELING. LOOKS. MANY EXTRAS IN THE BASE MODLE. Cons: BREAKS. RESALE VALUE. WARRANTY. The Bottom Line: You get what you pay for. If you can deal with minor probs and getting new breaks every other year, than go for it.
I BOUGHT MY GRAND AM NEW IN 2001. PAID 14000 AFTER REBATES. IT IS THE BASE MODEL, WHICH CAME WITH PWR LOCKS, STAINLESS EXHAUST, 4 WHEEL ABS, EXT. THAT IS WHAT MAINLY TURNED ME ONTO THE CAR. THE OTHERS JUST DIDN'T OFFER ALL THE EXTRAS WITHOUT...

Just purchased a 2001 Grand AM GT with the ram air V6. I hadn't even considered it in my select group of cars I was considering. I'd looked at Camaro, Grand Prix, Regal, Maxima, and even a Saturn when I came across one at a Pontiac dealership.

Pros: Beautiful and sporty exterior, glossy paint job, a real head turner. Cons: I feel the interior has been compromised to increase the exterior. looks. The Bottom Line: Poor interior craftsmanship, excellent ride and handling, great power, great sound system. I would recommend this car for someone who wants a family car with a sporty look. Disappointing interior.
I own a 1997 Grand Am SE. I love the car in every aspect. It gets great gas mileage, corners great, has awesome acceleration, and the interior has excellent quality. I am looking to trade in my 1997 and had my heart set on the 2001 Grand Am. With the...

Pros: quiet and comfortable ride Cons: locking doors when car starts is a hassle The Bottom Line: The Grand Am G.T. gives a great, quiet ride with great comfort and safety that I think most if not all people should look into buying/renting/leasing.
Recently my family went searching for a new car. We decided on the Pontiac Grand Am. I would have to say it was one of the best decisions we have made in our lives. The car drives smooth, uses very little gas and is an overall comfortable car to drive...

Pros: Good with V6, hot styling, nice ride, roomier than others in its class Cons: Gas mileage could be better, interior styling a bit overstated The Bottom Line: This car is a pleasure to drive, it's comfortable, sharp looking, with a beefy and powerful engine (V6), sporty handling yet overall a smooth ride.
What a great car for the money! I have been diligently researching and test driving cars for over a month now, and I decided on the 2001 Grand Am SE w/the V6.
