Pros: great handling, smooth ride, roomy, sporty Cons: road noise, less than perfect visibility The Bottom Line: Buy it, it's a great compromise between sportiness and practicality.
I have a 2002 2.7L SE that I bought brand new 4 years ago. Handling: The Intrepid handles incredibly well for a car of its size. It can handle winding roads and sharp corners with no problems. It stays stable on curves at speeds of up to 85MPH. It ...

Pros: Roomy, lots of cargo space, slick looking, smooth, great handling. Cons: Repairs are EXPENSIVE and hard to do yourself. Where's the Battery?! Warranty too short. The Bottom Line: If you want a great, stylish, comfortable, roomy, smooth riding car with really good gas mileage, check out the Dodge Intrepid.
2002 Dodge Intrepid SE. Four Doors, V6 automatic. Sounds like every other car in it's class, right? WRONG. The Dodge offers alot of style for the price I paid. We bought ours after my wife was rear ended in her old car and have more than happy with...

Pros: Gas mileage, roominess, very quiet, handling Cons: rear end, a/c The Bottom Line: The Intrepid will do almost anything you ask. It's got plenty of room for anything/anyone, gets great mpg, and the power you expect from a Dodge.
I went to Orlando, Florida in mid-November and rented a 2002 Dodge Intrepid. We were offered a Geo Metro, but I decided to go with the Intrepid for obvious reasons. At first glance, the car looked big (I usually drive a Buick Regal GS) compared to my...

Pros: Good performance, comfortable Cons: Hard to see gear indicator The Bottom Line: This is a good car. It's comfortable and economical and good both on the road and in town.
No, I didn't buy a Dodge Intrepid and I didn't have a long-term lease. I rented one for a week on a trip to Chicago, and was quite pleased with it. It has plenty of power, at least for the not-exactly-mountainous territory of northeast Illinois,...

Pros: Accommodations, good handling, strong acceleration and power Cons: hard to see rear view, monotonous interior color/shiny plasticky trim The Bottom Line: The Dodge Intrepid is a good, solid player in the mid-to-large size sedan market thanks to its roominess, drivetrain and competitive price/features.
I rented a Dodge Intrepid ES sedan on a short business trip, choosing the car class size because of an anticipated need to carry passengers (some of whom were quite big). Fortunately, I was not disappointed in this aspect.
EXTERIOR: The...

Pros: Large, Great Looking Vehicle That Performs Well When Not Having Problems. Cons: Steering Problems, Transmission Problems, ABS Problems That Begun The Day I First Drove The Vehicle The Bottom Line: Unbelievable problems the first day I drove the vehicle, it is really ridiculous. Decide for yourself and hopefully you'll get lucky and get a good one.
First day driving it, ABS light came on and brakes almost completely failed. Dealer just deleted code, does not care. Steering inconsistancies and sudden change in sensitivity while driving. Premature and excessive Tire wear in only several thousand...

Pros: Looked nice Cons: Everything else. This thing is junk. Too expensive to work on. End of story. The Bottom Line: I would not recommend this car to anyone. It is not reliable, it is a timebomb waiting to go off, and leave you stranded.
2002 intrepid se. 2.7 engine. Not the greatest car. Timing chain and water pump known for going out. 2k dollars to prevent this by replacing them. Have had leaks, window not working right, front end totally messed up. ...

Pros: Very roomy, smooth ride, power everything, very fast, aesthetically pleasing. Cons: Major transmission and engine defects, poor engine design, constant electrical problems. The Bottom Line: Get a Honda.
I bought a 2002 dodge intrepid (se) in 2004, and it had approximately 38,000 miles on the engine. It seemed to have everything that I was looking for; a nice sporty looking car loaded with features, a massive trunk, a very spacious interior, and it was ...

Pros: seats 6, smooth ride, room in the back seat for adults Cons: no cruise control The Bottom Line: I would recommend this car to anybody.
My husband and I were searching for cars that could seat 6 and there was not a big selection out there. We looked at several other models but they did not have the leg room or seating room like the Interpid.
We can fit 6 people easily in the car and...

Pros: plenty of power, nice styling, cavernous interior Cons: should have gotten adjustable pedals, be careful when backing The Bottom Line: a slightly used intrepid has more bang for your buck than any other vehicle i know of. period.
what first caught my attention was the amount of space inside this car. I'm 6'2", 230lbs and like having extra room to stretch out, so the intrepid was pretty much my best choice without going over to SUV's. with the seats all the way back, i have ...

Pros: GREAT trunk, headroom, handling, acceleration, mpg, distance comfort, body and interior line, cold A/C Cons: After 23,000, no real cons, Fact. tires make some road noise. Solved by upgrading tires. The Bottom Line: 23,000 plus miles and no problems. 34 MPG on the highway. Comfort to drive long distances. Substantial room front and rear. HUGE trunk. What more can you ask for?
Body line is excellent in my book from all angles. Front end is prone to a little chipping but that can be easily solved with 3M invisable bra or a bra. The lower front end air duct inlet doesn't protect the lower end of the radiator or trans cooler much...

Intrepid or Intrep"dead"

Pros: Nice interior, sleek design Cons: Costly, troublesome repairs. Engine is too small to carry the weight of the vehicle properly.
I purchased a 2002 Dodge Intrepid in 2003. When I purchased it, it had 34,000 miles, was in great shape, and had an extended warranty. I needed a dependable vehicle, safe for a child, due to an impending divorce.
Ever since the warranty ran out, I have been disappointed with the ongoing problems that the vehicle has had. It has cost thousands of dollars for repairs recently, even though the vehicle has been well maintained since it was purchased.
It failed to pass emissions. The cause of the failure was a pinhole leak. After a series of very expensive tests and repairs, the issue was a sensor.
The battery cannot be changed unless the front tire is removed first.
This vehicle has far too many problems for the promise that it makes, and I would not recommend buying it to anyone.

Pros: Extremely roomy and comfortable over long-haul trips. Cons: Traction control not standard on 2002 base model SE. Noisy standard touring tires.
We bought our base-model 2002 Intreprid SE after it was retired from a corporate fleet. We had a newborn on the way, and I couldn't relinquish to the minivan ideology just yet.
The roominess of the cabin is exceptional, my wife and I feel more relaxed on long trips, and because of the size of the vehicle itself, more secure than any other sedan we had tested.
The trunk swallows all our luggage, the child's pack'n'play, swings, and more. I love that the hinges to the trunk never enter the compartment, thereby, you never have to worry about leaving room for the trunk to close.
The base model engine accelerates quicker than I would expect, and only sports-enthusiasts would desire the 3.4 L engine.
Overall, a good value for the price we paid.
