Pros: Standard amenities, Adequate rear passenger space. Cons: Interior design, Engine, Acceleration, 14" steel rims, curb weight. The Bottom Line: High price, bland performance, and a blase interior kill my recommendation.
The Mitsubishi Lancer is all new for the 2002 model year, replacing the cute, yet infamous Mitsubishi Mirage. While the Mirage was a cheap car made with cheap materials, its successor boasts only slight quality improvements at a much higher price. ...

Pros: Affordable price, roomy interior, excellent handling for class Cons: New to US... so it's reliability is unproven. The Bottom Line: Excellent value and performance for class. However, this is a technically a new car line for Mitsubishi in the US and is still unproven as a consumer line.
Not many "new" car lines can boast the lineage that the brand new Mitsubishi 2002 Lancer can... The US Lancer is derived from the Japanese Lancer Evolution line that has existed since the early 1990s (maybe earlier than that, but I'm not totally sure)...

Pros: Very smooth engine, nice interior / exterior design, excellent IIHS score Cons: Awkward power mirror controls, should have option for ABS and 4 wheel disk brakes The Bottom Line: An inexpensive, safe car that you will simply love to drive. You have to test drive it to believe it.
Mitsubishi has finally decided to bring an up to date compact to American shores. The Lancer has been available in other parts of the world for a while so the mechanicals of the car and chassis are reliable. Additionally, a big plus (for me at least) is...

Pros: TIGHT turning radius; inexpensive; small (fits ANY parking spot), not unattractive; GREAT visibility Cons: Brake wear, a little small, interior is umm--- spartan, but everything you need is there The Bottom Line: Yes; I recommend buying a USED Lancer. Recommended for ppl who want a pretty decent LITTLE car at a remarkably low price. Not as small as you'd think.
I have had my 2002 Lancer ES for about a year. I bought it 1 -year- used from the dealer, and it was in almost perfect shape when I got it. I don;t take terribly good care of my cars, but it is holding up ok. It is as comfortable, fuel-efficient, and as ...

I bought the new Mitsubishi Lancer OZ Rally model in February 2002. My car is silver and since it's the OZ model, it has all the upgrades: rear spoiler, racing console, metal rims, upgraded interior, cd player with 4 speakers, and leather wrapped...

I bought my brand new mitsubishi just over 2 months ago. I was on a drive by when it caught my eye and I had to ask "what is that?" I bought the top of the line OZ model. I love it! I must say that I was pleasantly impressed with the zip that was...

Pros: Smooth, quiet ride, stunning good looks, affordable. Cons: Needs more power ... a lot more. The Bottom Line: Half the fun of this car is its rugged, rally-inspired looks. Its smooth, easy driveability takes care of the rest.
It was love at first sight. The bright yellow Lancer caught my eye as I drove past the Mitsubishi dealership on a Saturday morning. I went back to check it out, and drove it home on Monday.
I love the rally-inspired looks. The OZ Racing...

Pros: Sporty looks inside and out, Good power with a 5-speed, Ample room, Great handling Cons: AC sucks down gas and kills power The Bottom Line: Ignore the critics and test it for yourself. It will give you a reason to love driving again. An excellent value from equipment to the fun factor.
After purchasing a '00 Mirage that turned out to be a lemon, I was hesitant to buy a second Mitsubishi (especially after dealing with the regional manager for the company who gave me nothing but headaches). On the way out from getting my refund...

Classy, comfortable and sporty.
I purchased my 2002 Lancer used through Hertz fleet sales. First off the car was in excellent condition both visually and mechanically. The service records are shown prior to purchase disclosing every possible service from simple oil changes to...

Pros: Compact and sporty look, with a roomy interior. Cons: It doesn't have a track record yet, only time will tell. Looks good so far. The Bottom Line: This car is awesome. I would definitely recommend the OZ Rally manual transmission.
I recently looked into buying a new car. I reviewed all I could on new cars for 2002. I initially was looking at the Mitsubishi Galant, that I really liked. Then I saw this little car and fell in love. It is so clean looking, sporty, and compact, but...

Pros: stylish look, comfortable, good "college" car Cons: acceleration, gas mileage The Bottom Line: If you're into good looking cars and high performance is not a top priority (unless you're willing to invest some extra money) this is definitely a reliable, great buy
I originally went to the Mitsubishi dealership to look at the sportier eclipse, but was impressed with the look of the Lancer once I saw it on the lot. It's an adequate car, better equipped inside than the Civics offered at around the same base price....

Pros: The alternator went @ 36000! My dealer stunk too! Cons: I love the suspension and handling. It looks adorable!
All in all, I love my Lancer. I love the way it drives, I love everything, except I must say I have had a poor experience so far. I recently purchased the car (after it's 152 point inspection), with a bad alternator, belt, and alignment. Fantastic huh? It's a very noisy car, rattling in the engine and stuff, which makes myself very nervous. I'm not sure how the reliability factor will hold up, as it feels a little cheap, but then again, it was cheap (8000 with 35000 miles), which was a much better price than what I was looking at spending on a Civic (everyone has them!) or a Sentra (my boyfriend didn't like that- he has one). I would recommend it if you can find a good price like this, and its for a teenager or someone with a smaller budget. Make sure you get a warranty on it though! It will save you money in the long run!

Pros: On a scale of 1-10...acceleration(6), top-speed(3), comfort(8), looks(7), handles/turning(10), overall(7). Cons: clunky shifts, brakes go quick, low hp/torque, interior not great.
I love this car. It handles extremely well even after 3yrs, one miniscule accident, and 50 thousand miles later, had only one recall on the engine fan(that was free when replaced at the dealer), holds a strong position as one of the best fuel efficient cars of 2002; of 2005 as well, and is an overall excellent car to own. Excellent; however, isn't perfect. Even when I had bought the car new, i felt Mitsubishi held back on what they could have put into the car, just an extra 5% more could of made it a 100. That lonely 5% has to be on the clunky shifts through gears, the ever so low 120hp; which to my car was immediately changed, and the 20k mile; turned into a loud whistle, of my brake pads. "Now whats up with that?" Other than that you have a whole 95% to smile about, even for me after 3 years.
