Adaptec DuraStor 7320SS (1992600) Fibre Channel Drive Case (12 Bays)

Pros: Cheap, good performance, lots of space
Cons: Discontinued, can be difficult to setup.

Upon receiving the unit, I was quite surprised. If fully configured with an additional array controller, the unit is fully capable of handling a failure of multiple component before being disrupted. The GUI array manager is only for Windows 2000 server and can be a little clunky. The real advantage is using the text based host port on the back of the storage unit. The unit is more than capable of hosting a couple of servers. I am quite happy with the performance and options provided by the unit based on it price and expected lifetime.

we bought the model before this unit over a year ago and could never get it to work. We had the hardware replaced 3 times until adaptec finally replaced it with the newer unit. We have yet to get it to work. The controller constantly fail over the the raid 5 will break. We were attempting to use it in a dual host mode as advertised.
