Pros: reasonable price, name brand quality Cons: difficult to setup, some annoying quirky behaviors
This is one of the first Dolby Digital receivers I have ever seen that has been priced so inexpensively. It also is very good looking with its high quality aluminum and plastic construction; it is also rather heavy at over 20 pounds. I am very impressed...
Pros: Good sound, great bargain price, plenty of inputs and outputs Cons: Cheap remote, not very user friendly.
I bought this receiver about 4 months ago to go along with my DVD player. It has a built in Dolby Digital decoder with optical and coaxial digital inputs. The total system wattage is about 350 watts or 70 watts per channel with a five channel system....
Pros: Many options, easy configuration Cons: lots of buttons
I have been rebuilding a good stereo system since my old Magnavox small system failed to continue to work. I have found that Aiwa is an excellent brand, both for quality and for price.
The Aiwa AV-D57 is truly a great receiver for anyone who...
Pros: Excellent value for the money! Plenty of A/V inputs! Cons: Wattage is low. Remote not as forgiving as other units.
After blowing $200 on a used Pioneer receiver on eBay, and then having it blow up a week later; I decided it was time to purchase something new with a warranty!
The main reason for getting the used Pioneer in the first place was the...
Pros: Fairly easy to use, excellent sound and power at a fair price Cons: None yet!
I bought this receiver in a home theater package that came with Aiwa surround sound speakers and a subwoofer. The system delivers plenty of watts to please anyone and to give you that (at the movies) feeling, it comes with a remote that's fairly easy to...
The AV-D57 is a good unit if you only want to hook up your TV or maybe your CD player. But if you want to hook a DVD to the system this is not the right unit to get. There is not a DTS decoder, and with the current DVD's you will need a DTS decoder....
Pros: Price, variety DSP and Surround settings, optimal power Cons: difficult to use at first, especially with the remote
The Aiwa AV-D57 is certainly not the greatest receiver out there but it is the best you can get for $180. It has a total power handling of 350 watts, which with decent speakers was able to make my house shake. The surround features are very good, for...

Pros: It has a clock, it still works from the lack of use Cons: lack of sound quality
The folks at Aiwa must of been smoking the stuff when they put their name on this joke of a system but this is a great system if you are replacing a clock radio, I've had this system for over 4 years and it really is the worst for music, and sports, never can get it set up to sound half decent. The rear speakers set all the way up still gets drownded out by the front and center speakers.
With music a small boom box sounds better and not tin sounding.
Pros: A really great unit for the money. Cons: Not one!
I purchased this unit 2 years ago, and at the $169.00 price tag did not expect much. After the $20.00 rebate $149.00! I really had planned on using this unit for a short while until I could afford something better, and yes did spend a lot more for another unit. I could have saved my money as this unit works fine, with enough power for my Polk floor speakers. You may have to turn the volume knob up a bit, depending which speakers you have, the sound is very nice. And enough ports to hook up extras. Additionally what was the deciding factor in purchasing this unit was the weight of receiver. Metal casing and not a cheap plastic receiver. Too bad I do not see these Aiwa receivers around anymore, at least not in New York City.
Great starter system for the price!!!! by vtecjames ,Nov 23 '03
Pros: Good starter system, price, utility, style..... Cons: low sound output from the left/right front speakers
I've had my receiver for about 3 and a half years now and its been good to me. I bought it at Best Buy in the "Home Theater in a box" type thing to go with my dvd player. It works great for movies and video games especially. Since I've had my receiver, Ive become somewhat of an audiophile realizing the potential a home theater could have upon listening to in store demos of other models.... and now Ive gotten quite picky about how my movies sound. Maybe I jinxed myself, but the sound that comes out to the front left/right speakers is too low.... the center channel and surround rear left/right speakers sound great.... Ive tweaked and tweaked, but to no avail.Ive decided that Im gonna need another Home Theater system, one with Dolby Digital DTS and 6.1 sound... Aside from that its a great system.
