Pros: Stylish, user-friendly controls. Good X band detection, money back guarantee when purchased directly. Cons: Weak K and Ka band performance. Pricey.
Introduction
I will drive speed limits when the cops and insurance companies wire my cold dead foot in the legal speed setting. While I am an unapologetic speeder, I'm not an overzealous speeder. I generally do prefer to go 15-20...
Pros: Very good X band detection, nice features, good looks. Cons: Unacceptable K and Ka detection. High price.
I decided that I needed a radar detector when the random speed traps along my daily commute seemed to be on the rise. Ole’ Smokey was setting up at different places and on different days on a long stretch of country highway that is ridiculously posted...
Pros: Excellent Brand, Detects and displays 8 separate warnings. Cons: False alarms
Due to life circumstance, I am now making regular trips from New York to Boston. While this is not a long trip, Connecticut is not the most exciting state of the Union. So, with this review, I begin a series of what will, no doubt, become a famous...
Pros: Improved Performance Over 7500 Cons: Smart-Cord Not Included, Weaker Than Competition
The Escort Passport 7500 in the pre-Escort Passport 8500 days sucked miserably. It was put up against the Valentine One, and offered horrible performance, hell, there were a lot of much cheaper detectors that still killed it. Well, after the 8500 came ...
I bought the Escort 7500 in order to gain some knowledge. I like to know when I am being scanned by someone's radar gun. Knowledge is power. Although I respect authority figures, I want to know where they are. It might be useful to know where they are....
Pros: Great performance, Expert Meter, resistant to falses, highly programable feature content Cons: Detectable by VG-2 despite manufactorers claim
I have used my Passport 7500 in excess of 1 year now. I admit to being an electronics buff and purchased this unit because I prefered the Expert Meter (which tracks the relative strenght of up to 8 individual radar encounters) to the display on my...
Pros: Multi tracking display, programming features, 5 sensor laser detection, and safety radar Cons: Poor detection of hand held and instant-on radar sources from behind
I purchased the Escort Passport 7500 because I wanted a radar detector that would not give me a lot of false alarms and could track multiple radars at once. Kudos to Escort! Overall, this is a wonderful step-up radar detector; BUT, they do need to work...
Pros: Sensitive, accurate, SWS, detects all bands including LIDAR! Cons: NONE
I got this 7500 instead of the V1 and I'm glad I did! Not only has it saved my end from the law but it saved me a couple of hundred at the store! I've had other RD's but none have been as accurate and fun to use as this one. It has a ton of user...
Pros: Looks are good; Ease of use. Nothing else. Cons: Questionable product support; Poor X-band range; Exagerated performance by Escort.
I have been using Escort products (primarily in NC,SC but also GA,TN,WI,OH) since 1989 and have been pleased with the performance/range of the 4500 & 6800 to date. Upon purchase of the 7500S for its supposedly improved K and Ka range, I found the price ...
Pros: Early on I enjoyed it and it saved me several tickets easily offsetting the price. Cons: After 6mo I started getting a constant timed loop of false Ka warnings.
I have 4 vehicles all with various models or brands of some type of 10-way radar detection. The Esco ...
Pros: good performance, easy to use features, and price Cons: no earphone jack for my bike
I've owned a 7500 for about a year now with great results. I bought the Passport 7500 after researching the Valentine 1, and Bel's current line of products. I decided on the 7500 primarily because of the cost, and BMW Roundel's review of the product. The...
Pros: Programming options, size, display Cons: Falses quite a bit
This review details my experiences with the Escort 7500 Detector. First of all, I am not a speed deamon, just a person that likes to drive at the speed limits, and a little over them sometimes. The Escort offers an unprecented amount of...
7500s--Laser goes off constantly by swickes ,Aug 10 '05
Pros: It works well, except for the laser. Cons: Laser goes off constantly--it's crap!
I have had the 7500s now for about 2 years. It has saved me numerous times but I am about to smash it in the asphalt. The laser alarm goes off on a whim, it seems every time I get a call on my cell or call out, the laser screams.
I have emailed Escort numerous times with no response. So once I do finally snap and throw it out the window I will never buy another escort product...period. Stay clear of this one unless you like hear the annoying laser whistle every 5 minutes.
Great detection, easy to use and install. by bbealmba ,Jan 05 '04
Pros: Great detection. Easy to install. Excellent features. Cons: Price.
Replaced my Solo with this unit because I got tired of its size and the constant battery changing. Detection is same as the Solo which I rate as excellent. The Auto mode seems to block out most false signals until you are right on top of them but still detect police radar at good distances. I have been very pleased.
Pros: easy to set up, loud alert Cons: laser false alerts when talking on the cellphone!
fix from Escort will reduce sensitivity.
The "new and improved" Escort 7500s radar detector still has much to improve on. I noticed everytime I was talking on my cellphone, the laser alert went nuts. Either pull the plug or hit the mute. I called Escort customer service and waited over 20 minutes for someone to answer. It turns out that it is a common fault. I have to send it back to them at my expense. They will shield the unit better to block out the cellphone signals but it will also reduce the sensitivity. That sucks! I wanted to pay the difference to upgrade the unit to their top model but was denied. All I got was a "sorry". It shows how much they stand behind their product.
As far as sensitivity goes, I had it on the highway with a new Valetine. The Valentine outperformed the 7500s in sensitivity and less false alarms. The signal indicator is cool and was missed when I had the 7500s alone. I cannot justify the cost of the Valentine but regret owning the 7500s now.
The 7500s is very easy to program and the audible alert is loud (but unwanted at the false laser alerts).

I've had this detector for... by chris712_dt3000 ,Jan 06 '03
I've had this detector for a little under a year, and I have only had one problem. I got a ticket one time for speeding, I was hit by Ka radar. I think it was instant-on because it did not go off much at all. X and K bands are picked up great on this, and that was the first time I have had trouble. 63 in a 35 (OUCH)!!!! Anyways, I would recommend this detector, it has saved my butt many times.
When I first bought it, it took me a while to get it use to the truck. But I soon fell in love with it. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a starter radar detector. The 8500 has the balls for todays police tricks. So if you don't have the money for the 8500, at least save your money for this one, it will be worth the wait.
