Pros: Great product for the price Cons: doesn't have a digital decoder
I got this receiver on sale for only $200 and it has been well worth it. It has so many features , it gets a little confusing to use at first. It comes with a detailed operating guide to help.
Pros: Variety of modes and sound designs Cons: Complex remote
We have spent years thinking about buying a stereo component sound system for listening to FM radio, DVD sound, and satellite TV. Until recently the systems I have seen were complex and appeared to be conglomerations of different parts.
This Sony...
Pros: very inexpensive, looks good, dd ready Cons: no dd built in,
I purchased this unit at the beginning of the year. So far it has performed flawlessly. I paid $200 for it which is pretty cheap as far as stereo equipment goes. I picked a 5.1 channel ready receiver instead of one with one built in because I already...
Pros: Sounds great, great price Cons: Some components won't work with it.
I bought this on a clearance sale at a Service Merchandise for 399 but it came with the Sony speakers system (subwoofer, four small speakers and a center channel speaker). It works very well so far, outperforming my ten year old Pioneer system (and the...
Pros: Simplicity, Durable, mo fo the Money Cons: none for the average user
My brother actually owns the STR-435, I bought it for him through my available discounts. I am reviewing his system for him as he was unable to take it home over Christmas. His system is kept at my parents house and i reap the benefits living near home....
Pros: Many nice features, great sound Cons: not many
Sony makes fine audio components. This particular one, worth every penny, will give you years of exquisite listening. The surround sound, with the appropriate speakers, will blow you away, providing a cinema-quality experience every time you turn on the...
Performed great during its hard life of 7 years by btc50 ,Feb 12 '07
Pros: great sound, good options, ruggedly built Cons: analog volume knob is scratching when the unit is cold. died after 7 years.
I have had the STR-DE435 for 7 years now and have loved it...all good things come to an end. The sound quality was exceptional. Installation and use is easy and logical. FM tuner is great IF you have a large external antenna and pre-amp, and HORRIBLE otherwise. Soundfields work well and seem to fairly accuratly represent the intended setups. The I have used this receiver / amp as a general purpose amp several times each involving: disconnecting and moving the unit, reconnecting it with more than the recommend number of speakers, driving in a 3/4 of full power for 5+ hours, and moving it back. This kind of use is a torture test for a receiver. That wasn't what kill it though. I had a wire come loose from a speaker and short positive and negative leads. A blown fuse (big flash), smoking transistor, and glowing resistor later, "protector" on the display and no sound was all she wrote. If it is fixable, I will fix it and continue use or sell it.
