Pros: portable, skip-free, comes with batteries, back-lit light, Cons: no fm radio, no clock
I got this product directly from RCA. Their home site makes the Lyra seem like the best thing since the Walkman, and in a way, it is. Like the portable cassette/cd player, the user has music to go. However, the advantage to an MP3 player, such the RCA...

Pros: easy to use; back-lit screen Cons: sound could be better; memory cards expensive!!
I am really into MP3's and thought this would be the perfect thing for me. When I got it I was very excited and immediately put it to use. The flash card port was a snap to install and the unit itself is very easy to use. Also the back-lit screen is...

Pros: Great concept when it works Cons: May not work with Laptops, Bad Customer Service
The Lyra is a really cool idea but beware of the bureaucratic clones on the Troubleshooting line.
I am an Internet executive who travels a great deal and has every gadget. The ability to connect a portable player with my laptop, which never leaves...

Pros: Ease of use, durability, simple Cons: Extra for RealJukebox Plus, occasonal freezing probloms
When I first bought the Lyra, I was thrilled. It came with everything I needed, and it even included a car adapter kit, which was cool. When I got home, I plugged everything in and setup the adapter and RealJukebox software that came with it....

Pros: Large screen, nice bright light, everything adjustable. Cons: short battery life
Alright folks, I got this about a year ago, and let me tell yeah, this thing is still just as good as those new ones that have come out. It has a large screen for easy viewing, a blue light for use in the dark, expandable compact flash memory, and easy...

Pros: Easy to load on music Cons: Backlight does not stay on for long
I bought this product originally just for an Okay MP3 Player. But it is great. I use mine every day. The way you download MP3s on it is so easy. It comes with a compact flash card which makes it unbelievably easy to put Mp3s on to your player. It is...

Pros: Small, stylish and fairly large storage for MP3s Cons: Battery eater, parallel port connection is SLOW!
This MP3 player is pretty good. I had problems with another manufacturer's MP3 player, so this MP3 player was my alternative. Although the other MP3 player had a faster upload time than the Lyra because of its USB connection, the Memory capability was...

Pros: Sound Cons: Price of discs.
I thought it would be cool to have an MP3 player. I looked around and decided to buy the RCA Lyra. It has some cool features, but I wasn't too impressed. It takes forever to transfer MP3's to the disc. The biggest problem, though, is that you...

Pros: It has the most options & Features Cons: Doesn't look that great
I bought this product because it had more features than any other mp3 player out there. It works great and I've had no problems with it. I love it because it is easy to use and has cards you can swap at any time, unlike most mp3 players. I didn't even...

Pros: price, weight Cons: not many options
I have thousands of mp3's on my computer. I listen to them all day on my computer. I wanted to listen to them away from my computer so I bought the RCA Lyra. The player is ok. It is not the best player, nor the worst player out there. The 64...

Pros: Small size, easy interface, great sound Cons: encryption
I've owned my RCA Lyra now for about a year and still love it. When I first got it I admit that I was a little turned off by the fact that I had to install Real Jukebox. Now that I have been using Real Jukebox for a while, I have come to like that...

Pros: backlight, not too complicated and easy to use, comfortable padded headphones included (not those uncomfortable ones that you stick in your ear drum) Cons: it has to "load software" before it plays the first song you play after you turn it on, batteries are dead all the time
The RCA Lyra is a good mp3 player if that's what you want: an mp3 player. It doesn't have an am/fm radio or a microphone. It doesn't have the time or a pager. But it does have a neat little feature about it...It plays mp3s.
I've read...

Pros: Plays Realplayer and MP3, No Skip Cons: costs more than a Diamond Rio
The Lyra is awesome it allows even a beginner to create a custom music soundtrack. The included Real Jukebox allows you total customability. The ability to play different kinds of files will ensure that this player never grows obsolete. I got mine with...

This sucks!
by chrisp47 ,Oct 18 '03
Pros: looks good, Cons: Drains batteries like hell, no hold button
This was the first mp3 player I got, and quite frankly, I got more and more dissatisfied the more I used it. First of all, the batteries would last 3 hours if I used Ni-Cads, it takes like 15 secs to go from off to playing the song, transfering songs takes ages, because it uses a parallel port. Also no hold button means you accidentally press buttons all the time, and it is very big and heavy compared to other players.
The sound quality is quite good, but I compared to the price I paid for it, it could only be expected. ($200US)

This is a pretty good...
by rickster_dt3000 ,Feb 08 '03
This is a pretty good starter mp3 player. Cheap with relatively minor flaws. The main problem i have is that i can only put up to 64 mb of memory. It seems like the only card that will work is The RCA one and thats way too pricey. One of the cards i got also died on me.
No problems with software.
Other than that its a good deal
