Pros: Does not appear to be in any financial troubles Cons: Unsatisfactory programming, empty promises, seem to have idea that they know what is best
A few years ago, Adelphia bought out TCI in my hometown. Now at the time, I was very pleased with TCI so when Adelphia came along to take over, I figured things could only get better; I was wrong. Within a week, Adelphia seemed to rape viewers of the...

Adelphia Service Review
by karen2003 ,May 23 '05
Pros: Friendly reps, will answer all questions that you think to ask.
Cons: Bare minimum information given, can result in surprises on your bill.
Adelphia service is adequate here in Ohio. Customer Service reps are friendly and give understandable information. The only problem is that if you don't ask specific enough questions you are not given complete information. ie: I called to ask about charges for having a DVR in my home. I was told the monthly fee but was not aware of the additional monthly charge for equipment until the bill came. Aggravating but in my experience all the cable, satellite companies operate in a similar fashion to increase sales.

Terrible customer service, will go bankrupt
by byeadelphia ,Jun 07 '05
Pros: higher download speeds Cons: cost, terrible service, arrogance, reliability.
Despite their monopoly on many local cable markets, these guys are going down. Their customer service was horrible two years ago, is worse now. I wrote a letter to their corp HQ complaining about how rude these guys were - no reply. I moved, had Cablevision with no problems and now tried to order service with Adelphia.
They take long time to setup your service (~2 weeks) for me, though the previous resident had exact service -- all they needed to do was change account names.
When I told them I will shop elsewhere for faster service, they almost dared me to go ahead. I called around and got DSL installed for 25% less monthly fee.
After getting DSL, I called to cancel - it took me 30 minutes to do that. I could have just not been at home when the cable guy showed up - but I was trying to be nice and cancel the service. When I complained about the wait time to cancel service, tHe service rep was rudely told me to go to local office. Makes you wonder if they are working for competetion and answering Adelphia phones!

cable

Pros: Poor customer service Cons: Nasty attitude from customer service
The cable T.V is clear enough but their customer service from canton GA offices stinks. They try sneaking some fees in the bill.I ordered cable for three rooms and the technician told me he had installed all the three rooms but when i got visitors and tried connecting the T.V in the guest room, it was not working, so i call them and to my surprise , they had not connected cable in the visitors room and i was charged 19.99 for the service man to come and correct their problem. Am so mad and i can not refer any one to them just because of their nasty customer service.

More outages than satellite
by barry1965 ,Jul 07 '06
Pros: HDTV without buying expensive equipment. More premium channels compared to satellite. Cons: Frequent outages, higher prices than satellite.
I spent 8 1/2 years with satellite and was quite happy until I wanted HD programming. With Adelphia I didn't have to buy an HD Receiver, I could rent one for $8.95/month and that included programming. This was good, however, cable likes to advertise that satellite service goes out everytime there's a storm, which is only half true, it didn't always go out, but my HD channels on Adelphia cable and some regular digital channels lose signal at least twice a day sometimes more. This is what sucks about Adelphia and all they do is make excuses when you call them about it.

BEWARE-THE WORST GETS EVEN WORSE!
by skla ,May 30 '06
Pros: Perfect for sadists. Cons: No other cable choice. They have a monopoly in the area. And in incompetence.
Customers forced to endure frequent outages of cable TV and Internet service, endless waits for clueless repairmen who never show up, and infuriatingly indifferent customer phone service reps.
And all this can be yours for only $149.00 a month!
No wonder their ex CEO is in jail for fraud.
